|SUMITOMO US HEADQUARTERS TARGETED|
On Friday, June 13th, as part of Global Week of Action Against Japanese Customers of Huntingdon Life Sciences, a dozen diehard activists, undaunted by the rain, gathered at the US headquarters of Sumitomo Corporation, to protest their continued shameful relationship with the notorious animal abusers at Huntingdon Life Sciences.
A large prominent red and white banner greeted Sumitomo executives, employees, and most importantly, Sumitomo's customers as they entered or left the posh headquarters building at 600 Third Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.
The banner read:
"SUMITOMO & HLS: PARTNERS IN SHAME"
Employees stopped to chat with demonstrators and to request literature about Huntingdon Life Sciences and were appalled at what they saw and read. They vowed to speak to their employers about Sumitomo's continued
partnership with HLS and to request that all ties be severed.
As an added bonus, protesters were advised that Sumitomo, which owns the entire hi-rise building, had to hire additional security personnel for each and every floor of the building as a direct result of the demonstration. Activists have promised to return to Sumitomo Corporation of America on a regular basis.
Sumitomo is about to find out that their continued shameful alliance with Huntingdon Life Sciences comes with an expensive price tag.
