I have a 115ft long dipole which I feed with ladder line that I use on most bands. I also have a 2 el shortened yagi (with loading coils) on 20mtrs.
The dipole is about 25ft at one end but at the center it is only about 12-15ft high and at the other end it is at about 18ft. If it were any lower my XYL would hang clothes on it.
The beam is on my chimney and only 6ft above the roof which puts it at about 25ft. It does NOT show good directionality. I think being close to the roof kinda messes up the performance a lot.
I feed the beam with ladder line also. I have become a great fan of ladder line, twin lead, etc.
I am definitely low profile. I have a buddy about 8 miles away who has a 4 el multiband yagi on 50ft tower that hears stuff I can NOT even detect - I listen to him work DX stations and just shake my head ...
I downloaded the code for PDSR sr40 (softrock version) and have modified it some to fit on my screen better with my digital program FLDigi (which is also a custom version).
I also put buttons for the 4 G3020 oscillators on my PSDR and made some other changes to suit me and work out better for digital operation. I am currently making my version of FLDigi "talk" to my version of PSDR so the frequency readout in FLDigi is served up from PSDR and stays in sync with it so when I log a QSO it has the correct freq. That part is already working and now I want to make it so my FLDigi can also control the freq of PSDR to a point.
And then I plan to make it so I can be in any mode in my FLDigi and press a single button in it and have the PSDR adjust the filter to my center freq on FLDigi and narrow it down to fit my mode to knock out ALL adjacent QRM hi hi
I may add in other functionality between the two also. My goal being to eventually hide PSDR a good deal of the time I am on digital and control most of the necessary parts from FLDigi through PSDR.
It's coming along and I will probably post it one my web site if anyone is interested but I mainly am just making it for my own convenience and may not suit anyone else's taste or needs.
BTW, since my last post I have had 3 more QSO's and got my 4th country Mexico last night on 30mtrs. I also hv worked Bahama Isl, Belgium, and Croatia.
