Just a little bit of history of the FJG in 1973...
The FJG petitioned the ICC to abandon the former Gloversville & Broadalbin in the
Summer of 1973. The line wasn't used to Broadalbin for a short amount of time.
The track condition was deteriorated. In late 1973, the FJG decided to shut down
all together. The company paid their bills and shut down on December 31, 1973.
Committees were organized to save the ORIGINAL railroad, but to no avail.
The Delaware Otsego System didn't open and operate the FJG until April of 1974.
So, in effect, the FJG did close in December of 1973 and a new company opened
in April of 1974 using the existing trackage. The original FJG did close and fail
to exist after December of 1973.
