The following weather update was provided by the Essex County OEM:
The NJ Regional Operations Intelligence Center reports that the NJ Office of Emergency Management is monitoring a weather event in coordination with the National Weather Service. The NJROIC and NJOEM will continue to monitor this event and provide updates as issued by NWS.* Snow beginning now from S progressing N by afternoon* Light through dusk today, little accumulation* Heavy snow after dark and through midnight* Accumulations 4-8" north and west central* 3-6" NE and SW* 1-4" coastal* Temps rise a bit after midnight to mix in sleet and freezing rain* Possibility of 1/4" ice accumulation statewide except extreme NW* North of I-195 mix may continue through PM rush hour tomorrow* South of I-195 should change to rain in early afternoon* Event ends from SE to NW after rush hour tomorrow night* Winds and flooding not factors* Next weather package around 4pmNOTE: Where and when changeover to rain occurs still varying.Tomorrow's evening rush hour may still be hazardous in many areas.See attached map.
