How about having the cleric and "his" party take on
another cleric (of opposite alignment) for control of
a 4th level of a dungeon.
For example: Say that you have the party plus 20 2nd
level men-at-arms (chain mail, shield, and crossbows)
loaned to the party by the local church against the
other party that has - a 4th level Necromancer with a
bunch of undead he raised, some drow fighter/mages and
some Hobgoblin spearmen (mercenaries), and an evil,
Both churches are demanding the destruction of the
other's forces and the complete control of levels 1-4.
