Subject: Bert Sommer bulk mailing begins
You are receiving this bulk email because of your past contact and interest in the music of Bert Sommer.
As you remember his 4 albums were previously never released in digital sound format on cd's until now! It is with great pleasure that I can inform you that Bert's first (and best) album called 'The Road To Travel' has been digitally mastered and now re-issued by Joe Foster's Cherry Red / Rev-Ola Records in the UK ~ It now available for direct purchase only over the internet at the below link.
I have been lucky enough to have been a part of the Art Direction and the author of the new 8 page liner notes booklet in this re-release. The main players who were involved in the creation of this great 1968 concept album have all now been interviewed and quoted: Artie Kornfeld his producer, Brooks Arthur his engineer, Ira Stone his live Woodstock guitar player, Jesse Sommer his son ...and of course his reclusive friend & influence The Left Banke's Michael Brown.
Of the 11 amazing songs on this album 7 of them were performed live at The Woodstock Festival on August 15, 1969. The collection includes: And When It's Over / Jennifer / Things Are Goin' My Way / She's Just A Girl / Tonight Together / The Road To Travel / She's Gone / Hold the Light / A Simple Man / Brink of Death / A Note That Read
Thanking you again for the support of Bert's music and memory,
Keeper of the Flame at
