The park will be hosting an event on Saturday, September 24 in recognition of releasing juvenile, captive-reared condors for their first flight into the wild. This autumn represents the 8th season of condor releases at the park, which began in 2003.
The event starts at 9:00 AM at the park visitor center in the campground.

In addition to the event at the visitor center with large screen televisions displaying a live feed to the release site, there will be a guided nature hike led by Gavin Emmons, the park's raptor biologist. The 5-mile hike will not be focused on views of the condor release itself, but will provide an opportunity to see a variety of bird species in the park. The hike may be canceled due to high heat or other weather conditions. Sign up for the hike is during the morning of the event, is limited to 25 people, and will depart at 9:20. Participants must arrive with proper gear to spend most of the day on the trail.
All aspects of the event are free of charge.
