Come and listen to a great talk this evening as we are delighted to
have coming up from San Diego, Michelle Matson and Guy McCaskie as
Los Angeles County Birds: A Friendly Race with San Diego County
Both Los Angeles and San Diego Counties have broken the 500
documented bird species mark. This talk will compare and contrast
the Los Angeles County and San Diego County bird lists, look at what
environments county birds are likely to be found in, and consider
which birds may be showing up next. All will receive a free hard
copy of the lists for both counties. Make your guess...What will be
Los Angeles Countys next bird?
Michelle Matson is a high school physics instructor and student
counselor, and is an active birder in San Diego, CA. Her analytical
mind has been drawn to the juxtaposition of the different avifauna of
two of California's birdiest counties, and the friendly rivalry that
has been going on for awhile. Guy McCaskie is a long-time member of
the California Bird Records Committee, and is co-author of Birds of
the Salton Sea. Guy possesses a vast knowledge of the status and
distribution of California's birds over the last 50 years, and will
keep Michelle honest.
