An Eastern Wood Pewee was found this morning in Sacramento by Jeri Langham.
The bird was found along the American River Parkway. Specifically it was
initially found off Mira Del Rio Drive which is located between Watt and
Bradshaw just north of Folsom Blvd. I saw the bird in the Grist Mill
Recreational Area which can be accessed from Mira Del Rio Drive.
I saw the bird at 10:45 this morning. At that time it was in the Grist Mill
Recreation Area. Grist Mill Recreation Area can be accessed from Mira Del
Rio Drive. (It is on the north side of Mira Del Rio Drive.) You can park on
Mira Del Rio Drive and walk into the Grist Mill Rec Area. The road into the
recreational area is initially paved but quickly becomes gravel. At one
point this morning, the bird was in a large cottonwood tree just north of
where the road transforms from paved to gravel. At 10:45, I saw the bird
farther into the Grist Mill Rec Area (past the entrance kiosk). It was at
the end of this gravel road where there is a gravel parking area. On the
west side of the parking area is a large cottonwood tree and it was in this
tree at 10:45.
