'including myself' knocked the mac x for her 'so called' flimsyness...however. i've realized that with her 'handlaid' hull she is suited in thin-ness to her weight...it makes sense and plus i know 100% THAT ALL OUR SAILBOAT'S BUILT BY FIBERGLASS FOR 20 YEARS WERE OVERBUILT FOR SECURITY REASONS UNTILL WE ALL UNDERSTOOD JUST HOW STRONG FIBERGLASS IS...these boat's are not flimsy....they are designed by engineers who know 'exactly' where to put the 'extra' strength and where to save on 'weight' and i've come to understand that now.also, i went with the mac m because of the great degree of total overall sail footage..i got very lucky..the guy at the factory threw in the genoa..i bought the furler, i bought the shorepower and battery switch and upgraded trailer and a seat for when the table is down...other than that i went BARE BONE'S. im even adding my motor in seattle...i was on a STRICT BUDGET..I GOT AWAY AT $24906.00 TOTAL! OUT THE DOOR!! IM BUYING MY MOTOR USED HERE IN SEATTLE 'INSTALLED W/ EVERYTHING' FOR $1600.00. IT'S ABOUT 10 YEARS OLD..HOWEVER, even at that these boat's hold their value great!! when i was shopping, believe me i tried to buy used..no one wants to get rid of the M's for less than $23.oo and those are 10 years old and the x's are still at $18k..asking and you may get a good one for $14k...so I thought. okay...new! 2013 and go cheap...plus, i have my own little generator. my own 45 watt solar setup w/ everything. my own extra deep cycles, a whole living room, dining room and kitchen and BASEMENT FULL OF GEAR, litterally.i have a USED BOAT STORE IN MY HOUSE..so im gonna concenrate on keeping her light.okay...so that's that..i will try to ad a bimini for seattle weather and if i can i will try to get a full enclosure..(im getting this used too because i live near BWY) and .....why not!and i can do it as i can afford it..okay SO NOW THAT MY LITTLE RANT IS OVER WITH...WHAT ARE YOUR MAIN DIFFERENCES IN SAILING ABILITIES BETWEEN X AND M's. I like them both.Not knocking ANY BOAT..I DONT CARE IF A GUY IS OUT IN A BATH TUB BOBBING AROUND I AM HAPPY THEY ARE SAILING..what im wondering is because i've never sailed a mac x...(i had a offer on a mac x for $14k...full loaded with EVERYTHING...$45K FULL PACKAGE FROM BWYs' here...but i was a little too tall at 6'3 and ;my feet being 13"s i couldnt' barely turn around with the keel step in the way...plus the galley was mounted where i'd like to sit....don't get me wrong...i love the boat..but i thought..WELL IF IT'S MINE FOREVER NOW...IM 44 AND IV'E BOUGHT A 1000 BOAT'S ....BUT I RETIRED AND I AIN'T GONNA HAVE THE HUGE INCOME ANYMORE SO I WANTED TO BUY 'FOREVER'..is there much of a sailing difference..i'll tell you what...those mac 26's from the early year's hauled ass..and i sailed a 22 that was a litte pocket rocket....I JUST NEVER SAILED AN X...the fact that you and your son own one of each is why im asking...Take care and thank you all for welcoming me!i'll be updating our passages here in the puget sound...i've had a moorage bill for 20 year's straight with at least one boat down there....NOW I CAN KEEP HER HERE AT HOME!!!!!!
