Dear Jerry and Dave:
I would like to apply as a tester for the BirdiePall umbrella. I have read
the tester requirements and agree to comply.
If I am chosen to test this device, I will use it along local trails in state
parks and camps in Eastern Massachusetts, also on some long distance hiking
as the Monadnock-Metacomet, Berkshire AT, or the Midstate Trail.
I have been interested in umbrellas on the trail since observing a German
woman shading herself on the Bright Angel Trail of the Grand Canyon as she
hiked. She was the only one with shade on most of the trail. I did carry
one on my section AT hike last summer, and have a small Totes in my pack now.
I need now to refine carrying techniques with poles, or a cup/strap assembly
for attaching an umbrella to my pack.
I am female, 52 years old, (probably shrinking) 5'9'', about 190 pounds,
former Cub, Scout, and Explorer leader. I have family car camped since
discovered backpacking with my sons in Scouts, and since then realized that
lightweight is the only way to go. Subsequent middle age and back problems
mandate lightweight now. I am still learning to cut weight and hone skills,
and I am always looking for a better idea. I have camped and backpacked in
and climates ranging from Maine to Florida and to California.
I have posted the following reviews to BGT:
Thank you, in advance, for your consideration,
