Simple Day was last Saturday. It is known as the last big event before Pennsic and usually includes war practices. It is also known for being EXTREMELY hot. All of this held true for this year.
As was reported earlier, Ayreton was well represented. During the morning our very own Sarafina Sinclair was put on vigil for the Order of the Pelican (and elevated that evening). The afternoon armoured war practice had Ayreton fielding 8 fighters (Kith, Seamus, Sir Killian, Alexandru, Johan, Christian, Sir Guerric, and myself). I apologize for not knowing the exact numbers on the rapier field during the morning as I was not able to get on the field in time for that.
Earlier this year there was consideration of taking the Unbelts of the Midlands and combining them with Constellation due to the low numbers the Midlands has had in recent years. I am very proud to say that Ayreton Unbelts decided this was not acceptable. Within a few short days of that announcement our own Lord Kith was named regional commander and enough people had agreed to work together to make the team that the Midlands would stand on its own. During court at Simple Day the 35 members of the team plus 10 alternates were named. Keep in mind that this is 45 slots from the entire kingdom. Of those 45 positions, seven from the Midlands were named. Six of those seven were from Ayreton. That is an incredible accomplishment for any barony. Those six are:
Lord Kith the Silent Von Atzinger
Baron Henry of Exeter
Lord Seamus MacBain
Lord Alexandru Vladescu
Lord Johan Bez Spoudnia
Master Christian Fournier
