August 5, 2007 Charles Averett, 76, passed away on August 5, 2007 after several months of illness. He was born on February 13, 1931 in Birmingham, Alabama and was a veteran of the United States Army, residing in Syracuse for over 40 years. Charles retired from Crucible Steel after more than 30 years of employment. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Marilyn C. Averett; daughter, Maxine Simmons of New York City; son, Charles T. Averett of Queens, NY; mother, Dorothy Hightower Averett and brother, Thomas J. Averett, both of Syracuse; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; eight sisters-in-law; three aunts, one uncle, nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Farone & Son Funeral Home, 1500 Park Street. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday 11 a.m. in Living Water Church of God in Christ, 121 Huron Street. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Dignity Published in the Syracuse
