RE: FIP or FeLV funds
I'm truly sorry for the illness your
kitty has now, but FIP and FeLV (leukemia) are 2 different
things. There is no treatment for your other cats in either
case of exposure, but the chances are very good that there won't be a problem
Most shelter cats are exposed to the
virus that causes FIP, there is no true test to tell
accurately. The one that gives you an idea of exposure is no
guarantee that they will come down with FIP.
Positive leukemia tests can revert but a
positive cat should be kept separate from others until that
time. I'm assuming your cat is losing weight and has other
symptoms and that's what the vet is going by?
Keep any sick cat
separated. Do thorough cleaning of bowls, floors, litter pans
to minimize exposure. Get rid of all used litter and use
a mild clorox solution to clean the pans. Same with
bowls and floors. (Don't let cats or humans breath the
fumes). Do reading on these viruses on the
internet. Good luck to you. This does not need to
cost you a fortune.
