Today (Sep 2) following the CFNS bird walk at Inglewood Bird Sanctuary, Ken Havard, Milt Spitzer and I drove to Chestermere on Hwy 1A, on our way to Langdon Reservoir. We turned left just before the causeway, passed Tim Hortons, and then right into the boat launch parking area. We pulled in to eat our sandwiches and found Two Arctic Terns, an adult and a first-year, perched on the "sea wall" between the parking lot and the lake, right in front of our car. The short legs first caught our attention.
While we watched the adult flew up and over the lake, then spent about five minutes circling a small pond just to the west of our car, affording us excellent and close views. The younger bird finally flew off also.
