Well, I got my sliding seat all set to go Saturday...got to the river and remembered I had not drilled new holes in the floorboards for the dowels that hold the sliding seat rails in place (I had filled the previous holes which were too far back). Had my drill with me, so l pulled out the 13/32" bit, drilled away...and drilled right through my new fiberglass hull. Darn that stuff is fragile (and that bit sharp!) So anyway,. thanks to Gorilla tape (who invented that stuff, anyway??) it only leaked a little (and the patch will be easy).
But the sliding seat design works pretty well. Now that the seat slides further back with my wife in the boat I can balance it much better than with the fixed seat. I may replace the caster wheels with skateboard wheels that have bearings. It is a little noisy. That would quiet it down. I'll have to figure out how to make an axle, I guess.
