I am excited to announce the opening of Gallery Jatad in Houston, Texas. Gallery Jatad exhibits traditional fine art from Africa, complemented with contemporary 2 dimensional art. The current exhibition is a collection of African equestrian pieces. The highlights are a Yoruba palace door carved by Olowe of Ise, and several very fine figures from the Dogon and Bamana.
The gallery is located at 1517 Blodgett Street in the middle of the Houston Museum Park district. The gallery web site is www.galleryjatad.com.
Gallery Jatad is modeled after the galleries in Brussels and Paris that celebrate African Art as a true fine art. Gallery Jatad fills a void in the Houston art market. Gallery owners Matt Scheiner and Lisa Qualls mission is to promote African Art and help educate the Houston art community.
