These carvings(there are 2 of them) puportedly came from an embassy vaults/syrian or Libyan/. The story attached to them is that which ever embassy it was they left the uk and gave up there lease on the building. \buiders came to clear out and found these 2 heavy carvings in the vaults underground. They were taken to the skip where one of the builders thought he would try and sell them on the way home. which he did in Campden market where they stayed in one of the arches for 25 years on display. They apparently sold once for £14000 and then unsold when the shipping bankers wife found them "scary darling!"..they have been in a lock up ever since and I just came across them there in lovely Essex. I cannot make up my mind wether to buy them or not...they have huge presence and are carved all the way round from one solid tree trunk.
Any ideas would be very helpful...please shed some light...and try not to ruin my day by tellin me they are pricless works of art but stolen...lol. robbo
i will attach some pics titled bizarre carvings..thank you
