SEATTLE PARKS PRESENTS PLANNED IMPROVEMENTS TO HIAWATHA PLAYFIED AT
Seattle Parks and Recreation is hosting a public meeting to present
planned improvements to Hiawatha Playfield. The meeting will be
Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007 from 6:30 7:30 p.m. at Hiawatha Community
Center located at 2700 California Ave. S.W.
The community is invited to come and learn about the improvements
that will result in a renovated sports field and replacement of the
outmoded lighting system. The concept plan presented to the
community in 2002 has been further honed with the help of Seattle
Public Schools and the Friends of Seattle's Olmsted Parks. D.A.
Hogan and Associates continues in their capacity as the designer on
Construction will begin in spring of 2008. The funding, from City
major maintenance funds, King County, and the Seattle School
District, provides $3.6 million for planning, design, and
construction for the sports field improvements.
