It's time for second go around on this event we are trying to establish here in Flagstaff at the Pioneer Museum. It's called Living History Rendezvous. It is open to all periods. Civilian and Military. So far it looks like I have some Mtn. Men and Civil War dudes and Jerry Snow plans on doing his Peachy Breckenridge impression. Peachy worked on the Beale Wagon Road ( basically the 180 which we are located on ) and died fighting with the Confederacy. Interesting story.
This event is not designed to be a huge deal. It is supposed to be relaxed and mellow. I advertised it pretty good but we don't have a need for a schedule. If Artillery shows up I will schedule out firing times for that.
This is a great opportunity to get your kit prepared for the Fall/Winter/Spring season down in Phx. Use it as a training event. Use it as a base camp for going to the Grand Canyon. You could be there in time for sunset at one of the South Rim points if you left early enough on Sat. Come early, stay late. The Museum of Northern Arizona is right up the street from us. We run Riordan Mansion for the State Parks, that's in town. Walnut Canyon and Sunset Crater are in easy striking range. Make the most of your visit. You can show up Friday if you want to. We have an outside port a john.
Last year we had a good turn out of reenactors and the crowd was fairly steady. A number of people saw us on their way up to the Canyon and stopped in to see us on their way up or on the way back.
We had a small issue with the campfire last year and I am promised that the person responsible to check the restrictions will be extra vigilant. I've already called the Police and I know the Charcoal BBQ restriction has been lifted so we can at least have cook fires. I plan on haveing something to munch again on Sat. Afternoon so you won't have to break for lunch unless you want to.
That's about it. Oh, the rain. Can't guarantee the weather. We had one good down poor last year and everybody got under my tent fly until it passed. Hopefully we'll be as lucky this time. It is only in the 80's but it does get steamy with the humidity.
Hope to see some of you. If not, maybe next year. I'll A.A.R. to ya'll so you know how things go.
Thanks. "Trooper"Gary Daniel
