First, very sorry for the mass e-mail, but I am not sure how to reach all with out this extreme.
I have just received the 3rd event notice for the 2nd weekend of June 2010. I can understand how "Flag Day" weekend can be a good w/e to hold an event...... but must we all fight with one another as to what event we will support? There are so few CW Living Historians in this area, and fewer and fewer of us each year, can we not find some way to work together?
I also belong to a WW2 re-enactment group. For YEARS the groups could never work together, but two years ago Unit reps started talking and working things out. This past Summer/Fall an event was had right here in Colorado that brought together guys/gals from Texas, Cali., Wyo., Ut, AND they brought thier Tanks, Tracks, Trucks, etc....!!! It was a great event. And now we will go to thier state/event and support them.
About 4 years ago I started a Yahoogroup just so 2-3 reps from each Unit could join and talk about thier events, work out dates, planning, etc..... I had 3 people join at that time. I am willing to offer up this group again if people will join and truely try to work together. If we can get the "local" groups,(Wyo., N.M., Colo.) to work together and support one anothers events, we WILL bring in troops from other states. But just like the WW2 guys, we need to show we can do it here first.
So, What say you?
