you didn't really describe what your microcontroller does. The ASCOM
specification only details how to instruct a telescope how to do certain
things like turning tracking on/off and going to a certain location.
Most ASCOM drivers are a simple shim that translates ASCOM calls into
commands sent to the controller (Autostar etc). The controller does the
heavy lifting when it comes to alignment and general mount control. A
different approach is to put most of the processing on the PC and keep
the mount dumb. This is what we did with the EQMOD project which
replaces the handset with a very rich ASCOM driver.
So tell us a bit more about your goals and architecture and it'll be
easier to give guidance.
