This line was about the abuse of biblical archaeology by commercial predators. It is not quite as bad in ANE studies in general, although it has consequences here as well (such as the insane hunt for Noah's ship in Turkey--or, when I was young, the just as insane hunt for Moses' grave in modern Jordan said to have cost several Byzantine chapels their existence).
It was not about biblical historicity in general. So, if you want to answer, please remember that ANE-2 is not the forum for such discussions. Keep it sachlich and address the problems referred to in the link provided by Joe Zias.

In the beginning...
The following is from one of the most respected and prominent authors whom has followed the struggle between the world of science and those abusing it for fame and fortune.
My response to her blog, feel free to circulate all of the above and below
While trying to gather support from the Western Christian organizations, embassies, churches here to combat religious fraud in the name of science, particularly those groups that have used our archaeological findings for decades, one is taken aback by their silence and unwillingness to get involved. In fact, it is these fundamentalist groups in particular whom are those most abused by these get rich schemes by American professors and film makers posing as archaeologists. The American fundamentalist groups here in Israel, instead of protesting these science/religious abuses are more concerned with funding and supporting missionaries, messianic Jews for Jesus and West Bank settlers leaving the academic establishment 'Left Behind'. In fact, few of those in the Orthodox Christian community here have ever heard of these groups operating here. Sort of begs the question 'WWJD a phrase they are all aware of but ignore when it is not in their narrow parochial, financial interest.
