It's October and there are still birds to be seen. Saturday, the dynamic duo of Sirena Brownlee and Chris Maack will show them to you at Anchorage Audubon's FALL FREEZE-UP BIRDING EXTRAVAGANZA.
Meet at Westchester Lagoon and tour the fall waterfowl spots from there. We'll set up an impromptu carpool and visit hotspots which may include Lake Hood, Spenard Crossing, Potter Marsh, and wherever birds are likely to be found in the Fall.
It'll be a fabulous day on the town, and everyone is invited. Just meet at the Covy Cafe parking lot at 9:30am on Saturday.
On Sunday, the Bird Treatment and Learning Center has a great eventthey'll be releasing a GREAT GREY OWL back into the wild and you're invited. They don't get many of these birds, and the party is Sunday at 3:00pm. It's at 14100 Jarvi Drive. Get on Old Seward and head south from DeArmoun Road. Turn toward the bluff on Jarvi, and go to the 3rd house after the curve. Any donation to Bird TLC would be appreciated.
