It isn't a complex game, at least by the standard of other 18xx games.

I have played it. You also need a well-trained gibbon, to reach the middle
of the board and explain the rules again to John B, and some sort of
intercom system in case you need to speak to the other players. And the
patience of a saint, in case you've made the mistake of allowing a ditherer
anywhere near the game.
