ZLAPRS is an open moderated group, this is to put forward ideas, suggestions, and operating guidelines for APRS in New Zealand.

This group is NOT an NZART group and is open to all.
This is not a group for grandstanding on issues within NZART please use zlhams group

This group supports only the new Paridigim WIDE1-1,WIDE2-2 and the National APRS frequency 144.575.

At Nationial Confrerence 2009 it was voted that 144.575 be the National APRS frequency the time to change is NOW !

These paths are suggested for use by fixed location users:
WIDE2-1 gets digipeated once. This should get you to a Major digi that can be Igated. If you have to use WIDE2-2 just check to see if its propogating outside your local Igate area before using.

If you operate mobile using fill in digipeaters these should be are your paths:

WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1 digipeated twice. Best !!!
WIDE1-1,WIDE2-2 digipeated three times only use this if you don't make it to an Igate !

Note : WIDE1-1 is the Alias trigger for mobiles, this will trigger all fill-in digi's . Nothing else will work it MUST be WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1

APRS is not set and forget so please remember to check your tracks etc

Also the use of Receive only ports on Repeaters and Igates is discouraged,
APRS is by design a 2 way communication tool and receive only stops messaging within the coverage area of these RX only stations.
