Hello:

I have a transfer Table ref. 8994

The problem is that the gear assembly is dismounted and I don't know how to
assemble it.

Where can I find information or a data sheet where I can see how to mount the
gears?.

Thanks

I don't know if this will help you, but take a look on the list of
instruction pamphlets at ZWorld:

http://www.z-world.com/instructions/

and here for your transfer table

FolkZ,

Don Fedjur e-mailed me and will see what he can do with my dead engines.
Someone asked me how I burned them out. The answer is, I don't think I
did. I brought one of subject locos to the 2005 NTS in its original
wrappings for a little BYOZ running, but it never ran. Rob Albritton was
kind enough to dissect the loco (I think Hans may have observed the
operation, not sure). Rob tested everything out and finally decided that
the motor was DOA. The other loco never ran either, so I suspect that its
case was similar. Both of these were Aijin locos, and I suspect that
quality control was not their long suit. Either that or they managed to
burn out the motors in a test run. But I suspect there was no test run,
just defective motors out of the box.

A disclaimer here. I'm not knocking AZL here; they have a **marvelous**
product line and most of my AZL locos are great runners. In fact, I've
had better luck with AZL locos than MTL locos, although I have some MTL
locos that are great runners, too. Maybe I'm just a bit snakebit where
MTL locos are concerned.

Lesson: This hobby needs to expand its service capabilities. Too many
people who repair N scale stuff won't touch Z scale. That hurts us. God
bless Don Fedjur and the Stiskas and those other brave souls who venture
where the all-thumbs (like me) fear to tread.

I know the practice of giving land to the RRs began in earnest in the
1850s. But since the transcon didn't get completed until 1869, does anyone
know which RRs these were?

Hi All,

If you find an odd email from Bob Mitchell over the next few days, you
are not alone. Some worthless person is using his account to bombard
us with a virus carrying link. If the topic heading looks screwy, if the
contents
of the email have nothing to do with Z or railroading, then delete it
immediately.

Bob is one of the finest model builders of all scales in the business
and his articles are published in many of the major model railroading
magazines. He does not have the time to mess around with these worthless
links.

That sounds like a great idea. I had thought about making buildings out of
balsa wood blocks at one time, but then realized that although my dad is a
master at building stuff, I evidently didn't get that gene. Had I tried it, my
layout would look like something from PeeWee's Playhouse, or some other surreal
TV show. What size blocks do you use?

paint it the color that you want the building to be, silver or greenish work.
Take a piece of the plastic that you can run thru a laser printer. Print a grid
work (I use Excel) of the size you want the structure between the windows to be.
Cut the plastic to shape and fold it around the wood block. Add rooftop
details.

And have an up to date system with proper security setup (which on its
own will save you 99% of the time.. but there is always the 1%)

More importantly though there have been a spate of these on yahoo, and
I've helped people who got caught with chasing them down. In each case the
attacker has obtained or guessed the yahoo email account password of the
victim and was using it to spam everything rather than having used a
virus. (or if they did the virus got cleaned up ages ago but they didn't
change the password and it had been grabbed).

So - if you have a web based email account make sure it has a strong
password that cannot be guessed by people running the dictionary at yahoo
all day (including things like i/1 0/o conversions and so-on).

If you do get caught by it or a virus you *need* to change your passwords
as well because many viruses and trojans log passwords, credit card
numbers etc typed into the keyboard.

Heh. I used to wonder about that as well, both my brother and myself can out
scratch build our father and grandfather when it comes to model trains, both of
us were building our own buildings and kits (because of a lack of money to get
kits or materials) before we hit double digits. We caught the train bug off
them, and I believe because of our interest and drive and lack of cash turned us
both into pretty fair modelers.. that and the constant raiding of the
collections of stuff the old's had gathered ;)

But I would suggest that you start simple. Join a club who has a club layout
that still is in need of buildings, senery items, etc, in a larger scale like N,
H.O or O and work with several other experienced model builders building stuff
for the club layout. Then take what you learn home and do it for your own. I did
my first building out of balsa wood, card and paper and PVA (white) glue, with
an old single blade disposable razor blade, a pencil and a wooden school ruler..
lolz painted it up with watered down house paint and colour pencils, no idea
what happened to it, but i was damn proud of it, eventually it got binned when i
realized how out of scale it was, and badly made. but so what, thats how we
learn.

You dont need a lot of stuff to practice. If you have a printer, i suggest u
jump on line and google up some free card models, print them out on 220 gsm
card, in what ever scale u find them, reinforce them and glue them up. Do a
bunch of them, then take a look at the first one, then the 10th one u do and
look at the huge difference in your skill level in just a short time. Then give
them away, then find the few that are around in 1:200 and 1:220 for free (yeah
there are a few around), and make them up. Then repaint them. doesn't mater if u
ruin it, you can always print out another and do it again. Then, try combining
several of them into a single building. Americanize the euro buildings, Euro the
american ones. The most expensive thing u are going to use is the printer ink.
Packs of 200-250 gsm card (thickness of the card) in A4 size is cheap in packs
of 50 or 100. Glue with Superglue or PVA, even glue sticks, paing with cheap
acrilics, detail with fine tip pens and pencils. spray with a cheap finish mat
varnish.

If u got young relitives, like nephews who play with die cast cars or HO trains
or military or 40K gaming im sure they would love some card buildings with
garages to park them in, and no harm done if they end up breaking or destroying
them. all the time you build up your skills fast and cheaply. why not just print
one out now in paper, glue it to the back of some card from a cereal box, trim
it up ? :)

This is the sort of thing a good anti virus piece of software on your computer
will stop dead in its tracks and is sure allot cheaper than cleaning up after
the fact.

Thanks Uwe, but i already have the instructions.

My problem is that inside the control cab (where there is the engine) all the
gears are dismounted and now I can't find how to put them in it's place.

When scratch building large buildings, I size them based on the MARKLIN five
story apartment building that is 3.5x3x3 inches (LWH).

I've also printed out a few buildings. Some things I do to "make them better"
is; spray lightly with Dullcote, then put a drop of gloss varnish on each widow,
add a chimney and a couple of vent pipes; if it has vegetation on it, I paint
it with glue and add suitably colored ground cover. In some cases, I've glued
fine grit sandpaper to the top to give it a textured roof.

video of new version of track feed plug which will fit on Viaduct
track and fits between two parallel main lines at 25mm spacing,
something the current version of A001 can't do. probably see this
towards end of the summer when the Viaduct pieces appear.

cheers Garth

Hey Garth and Gang,

I'm subscribed to Rokuhan on UTube and saw it this morning. Very neat and it
would be awesome if it had the ablity to power both tracks from the one plug but
a nice product none the less.
