Jim,

Thanks! I am glad you like the cars. AZL is not offering the trucks
separately at this time. They are very nice!

It took longer than expected, but my highlight video from NTS is
finally posted at Vimeo. Get comfortable - it's almost 9 minutes in
   length - and enjoy!

Loren,

For me, Karin is the "Queen" of Z. I'm still trying to find the best way to
remove glue, after attempting a laser kit.
So far I only collect well. However I look forward to the forum every day, and
have 20 folders full of information collected over the past 3 years.

Thanks gals and guys,

My time on this list has come to an end because of the apparent offenses I
inadverdantly made. this is by my own choice alone. So, with the exception
of Don Avila, I apologize to this list for my requsts for assistance in
preserving the historical WP in Z Scale layout and the maintenance involved.

The advice and assistance we have received from specifically, Loren Snyder,
Jeff Merrill and the rest of the Z crew at the NTS was invaluable and
appreciated. We are planning on bringing the layout to the NTS in Sacramento
in 2011.

The WP in Z layout is on display at the museum and running well thanks to
the efforts of FRRS members Bob Sims and Bart Hansen. Anyone is welcome to
come on up anytime and check it out.

Hey Dave,
Being right beside the WP at NTS was quite an experience. I well remember
how frustrating it was when that messed up turnout caused the whole layout
to be closed for a number of hours. I was glad to see it get up and running
and it was a very nice display for folks to enjoy.
I can't and won't take much credit for any assistance on helping you get it
up and running again. My advice is only worth about 25cents an hour and
with what I told you, I probably ended up with me owing you $5.00
instead......:o)

Jeff Merrill really is the brains behind the repair I think. That guy is a
whiz bang when it comes to some of those issues and I respect him highly for
his knowledge and willingness to help out. Heaven knows, both he and Chris
Tatarian assisted me with wiring issues at the beginning of the show.
Matter of fact, my Castle Crag module had electrical issues that were
shutting down the entire inner track until we got my wiring mess
straightened out. I am grateful to Jeff and Chris for both their expertise
and patience with me in dealing with this issue.

Just imagine, me...... "little ole me" was single handedly holding up all
inner rail traffic until the repair..........what an embarrasing recognition
to have to own......"holder upper"

When all was said and done, the show was spectacular in many ways. I think
Anaheim turned out much greater in some respects than Cincinnati in 2005
and that was a great time by all attending. Main difference for me was that
at Cincinnati I was only exhibiting a small silverware box layout and didn't
participate with modules. Running trains and having a module as part of the
show is where the fun really is.

And speaking of fun........Sacramento will be here real soon whether we
think so or not. Now that I am rested up from 2008 and have had time to
regroup, I'm looking forward to Sacramento already. And for me the bonus is
that it's closer........yea!
Now if I could only get the NMRA boys to come to Medford, well then, I'd be
wagging my tail even bigger.

Hang in there till then,
Loren

PS. Don't stop being a part of this. What ever happened between some folks
will mend with time. We all must stick together or we will hang
alone....:o)

David,

If you've said or done something offensive on this list, I must have missed it.
Which would be odd, because I read every post.

Your work in preserving the WP layout should be commended, and obviously the
MAJORITY of others thought so as well. I sure wish I could have been in Anaheim
to see it.

We'd love for you to stick around, but if you choose to leave this forum,
perhaps you could join one of the other popular Z forums and continue to keep us
updated on the layout and your experiences in Z.

Either way, take care.
Kez

Hi David,
Good questions and I agree, MTLs' new track and
turnouts are just great right out of the box. Slowly but
surely they keep adding bits and pieces to make this
quick setup track more and more fun. I do not know
when, but I do know that if we persist, we will eventually
see crossings and bumpers.

We make an inexpensive, brass "Plate Girder Bridge" that can
be added in at some point on your layout when you are ready:
http://www.micronart.com/1085Deck_Box_Girder.html

Hang-in there, there's new works on the menu!

I am the bearer of sad news...

I do not know how many of you knew of the fine artist and custom

You can see some of her great work at her homepage...

She used to sell her fine work on eBay, under the name of...

Linda had her own, special style... that many enjoyed and loved, and
others might not agree.
I own many of Linda's fine pieces... and, she built a custom

I have just been informed by her daughter (and given permission to

She was only 50 years old. She had an on-going battle with cancer.

This is shocking and sad news.
Linda and I used to write back and forth a bit and we discussed trains, etc.
I sold her some of the first Micro track when it came out.

I once sent Linda some pictures of a feed mill back in my home town. In a
week she built a slightly scaled down model of it and sold it on ebay for
just over $400.00. She was very respected and a great artist. Very sorry
to hear of her passing. May the Lord comfort her family.

Alex,
Opening your email after a long day and.... oh no... I had hoped she was getting
better as
some of her fantasy items were being listed. I always checked as she was one of
my

touch. We corresponded a few times and she was so modest and flattered that she
had

I apologize for the long url in my previous posting. I should have
known it would not post correctly here on the board.

You can view her obituary at... http://tinyurl.com/59ch4f

As I mentioned earlier, I have many of Linda's fine pieces from her
eBay auctions... about 25+ pieces. I had more at one time, but
I resold a few of them.
She also modified / built a custom briefcase layout for me.
As far as I'm concerned... they are all worth every penny.
While her work may not be prototypical... it has it's own style, life
and charm.

We wrote to each other at least once every week or two during the
past two years. It turned out we had a lot in common in our thinking
about our outlook on life.
She always had a lot of nice things to say about her Z-scale
customers from eBay.

This was not her first battle with cancer. She refused most of the
treatments and often battled with the doctors. She really hated the
doctors.

Dear Friends

I was deeply saddened to hear about the death of Linda.
I know how difficult this must be for her Family. They are in my
thoughts and prayers. May God bless her family during this time and
always.

I marveled at Linda's work long before my first Z scale layout came to be.
Seeing her work gave me, another woman model builder, a goal to reach for;
creating beautiful dioramas in Z scale. I am still trying to achieve even
near what Linda has done!

She was 2 years younger than me. Makes one pause to reflect that life is
sometimes too short. I hope Linda realized the majority of her dreams
before she left. I think she would tell us to keep dreaming, keep creating,
and to enjoy everything good in our world while we have it... I just
imagine that is what she might say. Since I heard the news it seems like my
petty problems seem so small now. Think I'll go make something in Z...

Karin, and every one else that has offered kind words about Linda,

You are correct... hearing news of this type makes you quickly
reflect on your own life.

This is the second death announcement that I heard of in August. A
business acquaintance died of a sudden heart-attack less than a week
after I had lunch with him. No history of heart problems, not a
smoker, maybe a few pounds over his ideal weight, no family history
of heart problems.

He was 49.
Linda was 50.
I'm 48.

These were good, kind, helpfull people.
Why them?

I dodged a bullet at 50. I had a 5 bypass cardio surgery operation. It worked !.
I am now 70.
50 years old seems to be a benchmark age for the human body. Many of us need a
full body checkup and some Repair and Maintenance around that time.
I was blessed and I celebrate that blessing every day.
My best to everyone .
Cordially,
Mister Dave

Thought just occured to me Dave,.......we humans seem to wait until someone
is dead to tell each other how great that person was.
Maybe we need to be telling each other how great we think each other is now
while we are alive.........

Praise sure sounds and feels better than complaint and criticism.

I'm going to try my best to do more of the praising and less of the
complaining.

Dave, we are very glad that bullet missed you too.

Loren

Loren,

Nice thought... Oh, how I wish it were true.

But... this is an election year.

Alex,
Election year.....what a ride this one is turning out to be.

As for the peanuts, I had to use them to pack a box for shipment. Ran out
of bubble wrap.
