This site is a public outlet for the issues that surround the Yosemite Valley Plan and its effects it will have on the descendents of the Yosemite Indians; a place where you can voice your concerns and oppostion to the destruction of your culture.
The true facts for all us to remember is that Chief Tenaya was a Mono Lake Paiute with Vowchester aka Chief Bautista aiding James Savage to help capture Tenaya. History should also include the 1890 petition of the Yosemite Indian's claim to Yosemite National Park.
The upcoming proposed Indian Center in Yosemite should include photos of Poko Tucket aka Captain John the last historic chief of Yosemite, 1878. It should also include the Indian village which was created to house the Indian employees of the National park.
It should also be noted that the original Ahwahnees and Tenaya's band fled to their homeland of Mono Lake then later they were absorbed into the Mono Lake population in 1854, but had always inhabited Yosemite National Park as their traditional homeland. This principal is based on the earliest written accouts of the Mariposa Battalion's Lafayette Bunnell.
The NPS, is in the process of rewriting the history of the Yosemite Indians; commiting cultural genocide and other atrocities against this great nation while refusing to consult with the true descendants of the Yosemite Indians but have decided instead to enter into an illegal contract with an unrecognised Indian group / non profit organzation who have been making all the decisions which are rightfully ours to make. The true descendants are not being heard in their attempts to save their native homeland scheduled for demolition due to the The Yosemite Valley Plan.
Please note: The above photo is of Laura Kirn, who was caught conducting dig sites at Lower Falls parking lot, Chief Tenaya's old village site.
