1Sky (www.1Sky.org) is a collaborative national campaign pushing for bold federal action to tackle climate change and invest in building the clean energy economy of the future.  1Sky is pushing for policies that will create millions of jobs and ensure lasting prosperity by building a clean energy economy, dramatically reduce global warming pollution, and move beyond dirty energy of the past.  As one of the largest national efforts dedicated to affecting federal climate and clean energy policies, 1Sky combines the force of 40 full-time staff including 25 organizers in 19 states, 425 allied organizations, and over 143,000 climate advocates throughout all 50 states.

We can’t continue to have more of the same failed policies of the past pushed by Big Oil and other dirty polluters to remain dependent on foreign oil, keep energy costs high, weaken our economy, and destroy our atmosphere.

Position Overview

1Sky is seeking a Lead Organizer to help manage the day-to-day field and outreach operation by the headquarters field team. The Lead Organizer will work closely with the internet, communications, and policy departments to grow and manage the field program.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage the campaign’s day-to-day field and outreach program under the overall planning and direction of the Deputy Campaign Director.
• Manage 4 young, talented and simply awesome headquarters organizers that are coordinating the work of 25 additional organizers in 19 states.
• Lead the field team in developing plans for and executing field and outreach actions that recruits and mobilizes grassroots and allies actions in the states and on the Hill.
• Lead the field team in building and enhancing the participation levels of a diverse and powerful coalition of targeted stakeholders to advance 1Sky’s campaign objectives.

• Other responsibilities as assigned by the Deputy Campaign Director.

Requirements and Qualifications

• 3 to 4 years of experience in electoral, issue and/or legislative political campaign experience.
• Aggressively outcome-focused, can deliver on tight deadlines, and have strong attention to detail.  You take directions well and follow through on commitments.  You “work hard, play hard, and get it done” with lots of ambition and fierce team loyalty.  As far as you’re concerned, you’re not working here to take second place and neither the rest of the team.  You’re a strong team leader who can earn the respect and love of those under your charge and care but also make them run the laps.  You motivate and lead them to “charge the bunker” but also tend to their wounds.
• We want people with “campaign mentality” and hunger to win.  If you do, you’re going to like being part of this team.
• Strong understanding of the federal legislative process and/or the climate and clean energy issues will be helpful but not required.
• Bachelor’s degree.
