When measuring the pressure, ther is no heat of combustion so you are measuring the pressure at pretty close to ambient temperature, 14.7 times 23 gives a

Ok so now repeat using a 1/2 teaspoon of oil dropped into each cylinder..does it improve markedly?..If it does, the rings are leaking.

The compression read about 400 PSI for each cylinder. I had to crank it about eight times. The first two or three times it cranked, it very had a reading.

Just remember your gasoline compression tester is probably not suitable..Quick calculation here...a compression ratio of 23:1 will mean a pressure reading of
