Looking for a beta to focus mainly on:
- characterisation
- references (= "historic" correctness)
- immersion (descriptions, length etc.)

Many thanks in advance!!!

Subject: Search for a new beta reader
amrei4077

Hi!
I'm looking for a new beta reader(English mother-tongue speaker), because my
former beta reader now focuses on a new fandom.
I already published nine stories (mash4077 -> wraithbait, sga4077 ->
fanfiction.net). Some are humour stories, other are serious ones.
Not being a native speaker, my main problems are punctuation, grammar and tense,
and sometimes the phrasing. But I think that this sounds worse than it is.

My new story is less than 5,000 words and Sheppard's POV. He visits McKay in a
psychiatry and remembers about what had happened. Dr Keller died before the
events of the story occur (I'm sorry, I never planned to write a character death
story). It takes place after season five.
If you are able to understand German you can read the story at fanfiction.net
(title: In der Psychiatrie) and see if you like it.

I'm using Microsoft Word 2000 (word.doc).

Though I'm writing and planning other stories I already would be glad to find a
beta reader for this story only. (But I won't mind if you are interested in beta
reading other stories, too.)

One thing I should also mention: If I'm not responding immediately to your mail,
it's not because I'm impolite. I just don't have internet at home, but I'm
regularly online at least once a week.

I'm looking forward for a positive response.
Best wishes,
Amrei

Hi all,
this is my first foray into SGA fanfic, and I could do with a beta/someone I
could possibly bounce ideas off?
Basic premise of the story: McKay/Sheppard slash, John's POV, dealing with the
events of The Shrine.
I plans for it to be fairly angsty, obviously, dealing with Rodney slipping
away, with a nice fluffy ending :)
If anyone would be willing to help I'd be very grateful.

Cheers,
Gem

PS. Seem to be having trouble posting-the page doesn't change when I press send,
so apologies if I've sent this more than once!

What I'm really looking for is someone I can bounce ideas back and forth. I also
need help with characterization for the minor characters in my story namely
Peter Grodin and David Parrish. I need help fleshing them out. If anyone knows
where I can get a reliable Czech translator, I'd be eternally grateful. The
story is rated Adult for death of children, violence, and sex between mainly John
and Rodney but secondary pairings will appear in the story. I just gotten
started on the story so if you don't think all the violence is your cup of tea
I'd love to have someone help with characterization that'd be great. The story
so far is not that long but I do plan to turn it into a series. Also if someone
could help with my grammar. I'm horrible with commas. Please and thank you.

Summary:  Rodney survives a year-long ordeal as a wraith captive.  Barely.

Most chapters will be PG-13 for angst or violence.  A few chapters will be NC-17.  Yep, you heard right - that means some hot wraith/astrophysicist action.

Anyone game?  I'd love some prose style critique, but just a straight up spelling/grammar pass and any kind of comments will do.

I'd give it a go. Not very sure about the spelling and grammar stuf, I'm not a native speaker, so... But the subject would interest me greatly and I am a big fan of one Rodney McKay as well as fascinated by wraith. So you would have an earfull of comments fro me ;)

I'm available for chatting on weekends mostly, since I have to actually work for a living *eyeroll*

So, yeah, if you're interested add me on messenger and I'm game.

Hi,
I don't know anything about Farscape and I've never been a beta before, but if you're willing to give it a try, then I'd love to help you out. I'm currently studying to become a translator, so it would be great practice for me and I'd be helping someone so it adds up. I can proof read your work and I'm great with constructive critics if I may say so myself. Anyway, if you are interested, just send me an e mail to: magdalena_biondi@... Kisses,

Subject: Seeking for a beta reader
amrei4077

Hi,
I already published some stories at wraithbait (as Mash4077) and fanfiction.net
(as sga4077), and I would like to continue with it, but not being a native
speaker I don't want to do it without having a beta reader.
At the moment I've got three stories ready to be beta read.

The first one "At the psychiatry" I finished months ago. It's a drama story with
about 6,000 words, which takes place after the fifth season, assuming that they
went back to Pegasus. Dr Keller died, before the events of the story occur. It's
Sheppard's pov, and in the story he is visiting McKay at the psychiatry.

The second story "Michael" is a drabble, 100 words exactly. It includes both
drama and humour elements and was inspired by the song "Michael" by Franz
Ferdinand. Against my habits I published this story unbetaed at fanfiction.net,
if you would like to get an impression. It is about some thoughts Michael had.

The third story is "The man with the knife". About 600 words, tag to The
Storm/The Eye. Do you remember this man with the huge knife? It's his pov. And
drama, of course.

So, is anyone out there who is interested in beta reading one or all of the
stories? My main problems are punctuation, tense and phrasing.

Still one thing to mention: I am at least once a week in the internet, but
sometimes not more often. So now and then it can take a week till I respond.

You are still reading this? That's a good sign! I would be really glad if anyone
would help me.

Kind regards,
Amrei

Hi- I'd like at least one or two betas to work on a huge crossfandom fic that

polyamorous relationships. It's an apocofic.

I write Gen, mostly Sheppard and McKay interaction, h/c, some drama/angst. What

And, at this point, I need someone who will send me harassing emails, demanding

Hi there,

It's 7,683 words, with a NC-17 rating. It focuses on their developing

I'm fine with characterisation, plot etc., but I tend to have a blind spot
when it comes to ellipses at the end of a sentence. Nevertheless, a general
punctuation check would be most welcome. I want to be able to post my second

If anyone's interested, please let me know.

  Many thanks :)

Hi! I'm looking for a beta to help me out with a McShep story.

Summary: The city's back in Pegasus, and John and Rodney have been watching the
stars together for months when Rodney makes an observation. It is PG-13, 1105
words. It has a couple spoilers for the series finale.

Most of it I feel pretty good about, but I'm a little worried the ending may
seem too abrupt even though it kind of felt like the way to end it.

Thanks!

Hi,
I've got a couple of fics in the making and could do with a beta. I'm...unsure
of how good they are, and could do with (another) set of eyes. The first fic is
a Tao of Rodney AU...A Tao of John, if you will.

Cheers!
Gemma

Hi! I'm looking for a beta to help me out with a McShep story.

Summary: The city's back in Pegasus, and John and Rodney have been watching the stars together for months when Rodney makes an observation. It is PG-13, 1105 words. It has a couple spoilers for the series finale.

Most of it I feel pretty good about, but I'm a little worried the ending may seem too abrupt even though it kind of felt like the way to end it.

Thanks!

Sarah
