Description

Wondering how you can get started with using compost worms to eat your organic waste stream and make compost for your garden?

The City of Fort Collins Natural Resources Department has teamed up with the Worm Man of Garbage Busters to offer this web based service through Yahoo! Groups to make it easy for you to obtain compost worms, assistance, education by communicating directly with your neighbors who wish to share their compost worms with you and their experience and know-how.

Some advice from the Worm Man about the transport of your worms: Worms should be transported in a container that provides air from the top (lid with holes). Pails and buckets work nicely.

To participate in the online group, sign in by clicking “Join the Group” (NOTE: due to increased spam activity, you must be a group member to participate in this program). Next, click “Post” to announce either your wish for compost worms or your offer of compost worms. Don’t forget to include your approximate location and a form of contact information in order to complete the exchange. Remember to be courteous and polite to your neighbors.

Please use one of the following tags in the subject line depending on your type of post:

Available: (if you have compost worms to give)
Wanted: (if you want compost worms)
Question: (If you are looking for advice on how to use or care for your compost worms
Tip: (if you have advice or a tip to pass on to your neighbors about your experience with vermicomposting)

Once you feel your post is no longer useful (like you’ve given all the compost worms you can), you can delete your own messages by clicking on the subject line and choosing the delete button.

Re: fungus gnats?
This is another reason I try to get people to do this outside. To remedy this situation you will have to dragit out of the basement and put in deep shade or up

fungus gnats?
Hello fellow wormers... I have a worm bin that has what I thought were fruit flies at first, but now I think they're fungus gnats.  I've set out vinegar traps
