History records a variety of natural disasters endured by humans throughout the ages, the likes of one in particular is still occurring in modern times and used as part of an oft misunderstood biblical metaphor: Revelations CH 9 v. 3: And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power...Exodus 10:4-5, 13... the east wind brought the locusts.

Except for the publishing of 666 The Mark of America Seat of the Beast... offering readers a quick, easy explanation of the "locust" metaphor, people would entirely miss the clear current examples of "locusts upon the earth" and the "power in their tails to torment men." "These "locusts" are the kings, presidents, popes, priests, general authorities, worldly leaders and any other human who controls the actions of their followers and subjects, either by teaching or by command. They are "given power" by those who follow ("tail") them whether by devotion or decree" Ch 9 Pg. 206-207+ 

A quick review of the herbivore bug (Acrididae) family, which can consume its own weight in plants each day, notes some important distinctions between the smaller, relatively harmless, lone grasshopper and the larger gregarious varieties such as the Desert Locust-pertinent to better understanding the metaphorical symbolism. 

Several Acrididae species can undergo population explosions (upwards of 40 to 80 million per 1/2 square mile). In 1889 a Red Sea swarm reportedly covered an estimated 2000 square miles. When some species of hatched nymphs develop in overcrowded numbers (initially wingless, all adults grow wings), from contributory hot weather conditions, they walk across land but eventually exhibit swarming, gregarious, migratory behavior with some swarms flying hundreds or thousands of miles. Once a swarm has landed and settled on vegetation or crops the consumption begins unabated. Reportedly now extinct, in 1874 to 1877 a Rocky Mountain species (estimated at 124 billion insects) destroyed millions of dollars of crops in the Great Plains. Locusts are common in all parts of the world.

From these facts a sensible comparative correlation can be drawn between actual locusts and gregarious societal leaders with their `tail' like followers that devastate the human landscape of equality, long term peace and happiness, bringing the long misinterpreted metaphor into true current global perspective. 

As one example, recent headlines out of California reported an overwhelming campaign culminating in voters defeating Proposition 8 which would have allowed homosexual individuals the right to marry. Succeeding reports indicated that leadership from one particular church (locust) directed its assemblies of member-followers (tail) throughout the state to actively swarm in opposition of the ballot measure through personal activism and or monetary donations. "A "tail" always follows the commands of the creature, and in the case of "scorpions," it has a devastating effect" Ch 9 pg 207

Astonishingly, another organization reportedly released a statement to the press opposing the presidents inhumane treatment of a fly, now nicknamed "Flygate" when he swatted and squished said fly "As we all know, human beings often don't think before they act. We don't condemn President Obama for acting on instinct.". Upon further investigation "When the media began contacting us in droves for a statement, we obliged, simply by saying that the president isn't the Buddha and shouldn't be expected to do everything right—if not for that, we would not have brought it up. It's the media who are making a big deal about the fly swat—not PETA." Thus the media is a "locust" example trying to create a global "tail" of support to sell (swarm) news for its own profitable ends.. over a common house fly.

As locusts continue to voice their opinion, their supporters (tail) are the ones doing the stinging -

In the case of Dr. George Tiller - a women's health care & abortion service provider for nearly 20 years, recently shot to death- by a vehement follower of the Pro-Life movement (locust), a sting delivered by a follower (tail) in an attempt to thwart Pro-Choice services for women caused a fatal effect for Dr. Tiller.

Lobbyists and bureaucrats that hang around the Houses of Parliament in any form are simply tails for hire by those (locust) who wish to influence others in order to create an even greater following (tail) with more sting potential for any who oppose its purpose as in the tobacco lobby, pharmaceutical lobby, auto makers lobby, gun lobby etc. etc.

Using Kim Jong Il, the commander & dictator of the world's 4th largest standing army, as the most influential locust of North Korea as an example- his tail stings this about him "The Korean people absolutely worship, trust and follow the General as god." "They are upholding him as their great father and teacher, united around him in ideology, morality and obligation." in spite of Kim's disastrous agricultural and economic policies which have caused his people to suffer under one of the world's longest, deadliest famines.

Applying the definition given by 666 The Mark of America Seat of the Beast...  a reader easily begins to recognize and understand why the author of the Book of Revelations used locusts to describe the explosive numbers of tormenting armies, agencies, alliances, associations, bands, businesses, branches, brotherhoods, bureaus, causes, charities, churches, clubs, coalitions, collectives, cooperatives, commissions, companies, councils, departments, dictatorships, divisions, endowments, establishments, federations, fellowships,  firms, foundations, funds, governments, guilds, groups, institutes, leagues, lobbyists, lodges, media, monarchies, monasteries, militaries, navies, offices, orders, organizations, operations, partnerships, principalities, religions, schools, sisterhoods, societies, teams, unions, units etc, the  entire world over. All of them ready, willing and able to direct and control the thoughts and actions of their tail followers either by teaching or command, rarely if ever, for the equitable humane treatment of all living persons.
