Re: New Issue of World Haiku Review now online

The World Haiku Club is pleased to announce the new issue of World
Haiku Review.
This issue is exclusively dedicated to India where WHC's 9th World
Haiku
Festival 2008 took place from 23 to 25 February under the slogan of
ananda,
bliss or joy, representing the joy of haiku-writing. The issue will
be released
online in a number of instalments and this one is PART ONE, which can
be
accessed at: http://worldhaikureview.googlepages.com/home Click on
this URL and
when the magazine's cover page comes up click on the current issue
URL.

WHF 2008 was a resounding success and marked an important milestone
in the
development of haiku in India. By the same token it was also an epoch-
making
event for world haiku itself.

Haiku is becoming rapidly popular in all parts of India with the
number of haiku
poets of over 1000. Considering her ancient civilisation, rich
cultural
heritage, especially the diversity and richness in terms of religion,
languages
and culture, India provides a tremendous scope and hope for creating
distinctively Indian haiku trend and tradition.

WHF2008 was organised entirely by Indian poets led by Kala Ramesh,
WHC's
Director in charge of this event, with the help of her team of A.
Thiagarajan
and Vidur Jyoti. Everyone did his or her bit to make WHF2008 a great
success.
The event was supported by H H Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji of the Art of
Living
Ashram and Sri Ratan Tata Trust. It is hoped that WHF2008 will lead
to the
flourishing of haiku in India and that it in turn will contribute to
enriching
the world haiku which the World Haiku Club promotes.

We hope that you will enjoy this special issue of World Haiku Review.

Susumu Takiguchi
Chairman, The World Haiku Club

Rohini Gupta
Technical Editor, World Haiku Review

Kala Ramesh
Director, World Haiku Festival 2008 in India
