Woolly Thoughts was a book intended to inspire knitters to create their own designs. It was originally intended for designing garments but things have moved on and Woolly Thoughts is now much better known for spectacular designs for afghans and cushions.
We believe in allowing knitters, and other craftspeople, to take a design and put their own mark on it. We want to bring like-minded people together, hopefully to inspire each other. We intend to keep as low a profile as possible but will always be willing to answer any questions.
If you like someone else to do the thinking so that you can follow the instructions as they are written, that’s also OK with us.
We are mathematicians so many mathematicians are attracted to Woolly Thoughts but don’t let that put you off. You don’t need to understand the mathematics to follow our designs. You don’t even need to care about the Maths. A desire to play around with shapes or to create a beautiful decorative knitted item are enough justification for joining.
The current craze is for Curve of Pursuit which was featured in the Mason Dixon knitting book. Hopefully this is just a starting point for many.
Knitting and crochet allowed plus any other crafts where you can make use of our designs. We already know of some stained glass and patchwork versions.
