Description
The Wonder Wand provides a simple and effective means of getting on the air with your portable HF amateur radio transceiver (FT-817, FT-897, IC-703, Elecraft K1&2 etc.) when a very compact antenna is needed. Operation is simplicity itself. The Wonder Wand can also be used on other HF radios up to a maximum output power of 40 watts P.E.P.
HF Operation: Connect the Wonder Wand directly to the transceiver antenna socket - SO239 or BNC - it can be supplied with either!
Simply extend the telescopic whip to its maximum length and then position it away from both obstructions and yourself.
Rotate the knob on the rear of the unit to select the desired band of operation between 7Mhz and 50Mhz. The unit is pre-tuned for optimum match on each band so no further adjustment is necessary unless a substantial ground is connected, in which case the whip may need to be adjusted.
For VHF and UHF operation between 70Mhz and 440Mhz the tuning circuit is switched out, the unit becoming a simple whip antenna (adjust the telescopic whip to obtain the best match).
The Tunable Counterpoise System ( TCP ) is a portable ground radial system designed to work with the Wonder-Wand antenna, and works great with other types of antennas such as the Miracle Whip, ATX or a long-wire & ATU. The TCP is a tuning box that interfaces the chassis of the radio to a short 4m counterpoise, which is extended out over the ground.
The new "Combo" is simply the Wand & TCP combined in one neat compact package.
The Wonder-Pole is a compact dipole (about 12" stored) having a deployed span of about nine feet. The design is related to the Wonder Wand but covers 20m through 10m, has a "mirror image" matching system rendering it a balanced design with the ability to null out signals "end on" just like a regular dipole and is also rated to work with most radios up to 40 watts P.E.P. max.
*Coming soon the "Wide-bander" 160m - 70cms fully tunable portable whip / fixed station wire antenna.

... I think it's a brilliant idea, which actually doesn't pretend to reinvent any of the laws of physics. The longer the wire the better the results and the
