Does anyone have the tape of when the N-copter
went down on the air? I think the woman who was killed
was Jane Dorancher. I would really like to hear that
again. It was like 1986, on the Joe E. Reynolds show. If
you have it, please e-mail me at
jmd26@...

Thanks
Just a gentle reminder that there is a new
website for NBC Radio and/or Monitor fans.
It is
www.monitorbeacon.com. by Dennis Hart.
He has updated it with new
sound waves.
Take a look. It is great!!!!!
Don

I am a traffic reporter in Atlanta, currently
doing traffic for WVFJ (J93.3), a Christian station
here. I am working with Frank Reed! The same Captain
Frank who did middays on 66 WNBC! When I found out it
was the same person, I couldn't believe it. I am
doing traffic for a DJ that I grew up listening to!
This is a small world!
Just a note for anyone that is interested in the
old weekend NBC Radio program Monitor, there is a new
website that is excellent. It covers almost anything you
would want to know about Monitor.
Go to:
www.monitorbeacon.com
Dennis Hart, the Monitor Man put the website together.
Does anyone have any information or programs of NBC Monitor or any other NBC
Radio Network Programs? I am especially interested in obtaining old Monitor
programs.
-Don Spuhler
...Well , at least SOMEBODY'S here !!!!!!!!! I've
never worked in radio , as said below , my late father
worked at NBC in NYC , at 30 Rock...as an NBC News
employee , not a WNBC , employee , plus , he was gone from
there , long before , their switch to T-40 in 1973? or
whatever . I remember Top 40 WNBC , tho I'm a li'l less
ernest about it than other people here seem to be...in
it life as a T4 , I listened to it a lot , at times
, and , sometimes , refused to listen
to it AT
ALL !!!!!!!!!
Went to visit 30 Rock a couple of weeks
ago.
Do they give tours of the old wNbc radio
studios
on the second floor?
Also is there a time we
could arrange to be on line. Maybe we can ad a 66
wNNNbc chat room
in Yahoo? I was a loyal listener of
the station
and a liked listening to "Radio City"
Bill Rock,
Dale Parsons, and Dan Taylor. A lot of
credit
goes to Dan Taylor for making it to the numero
uno
market in the country and then filling in for
the
I-dude. All at the tender age of 19.
Thanks for those
million dollar memories.
I cetainly remember 66...and , my late father WORKED at NBC ( in " news " , NOT
" radio " , plus , he was gone , way B4 th' Tpo 40 years that this is mainly
about...Even so...) !
On E bay today, There is a WNBC microphone flag for sale. It looks very
similar to the one on the microphone on the picture on this page. Just type in
WNBC under search to see it.
Anyone know what happened to Jay Stone?
I
worked with him at KC101 in New Haven
back in 83.Last
I heard he was at a soft ac
in Hawaii.And Where
is Dale Parson's at.
I really liked his voice and
delivery
on 66 wNNbc!

Eric
I do have some old Imus airchecks in a box in my
basement. I have told myself before that I was going to
stream them, but I figure Imus has more lawyers than me,
so I might be better to back off. Nothing on Brink
and Belzer, though there was a big article on them in
a magazine (I want to say New York) that you might
find interesting. Check your local library.

-

Mike...

If you haven't checked out Gene
Garnes post at the website (www.imonthe.net/66wnbc) you
should. It's in the "I Remember" section.

In the
mean time, maybe you can find him online, he would be
the man to contact.

- Jim
You know, with the advent of webcasting, wouldn't
it be cool to have an all Time Machine online
station? I would not be so brazen as to try and do it
myself, but the 60's and 70's stations now available just
don't measure up.

- Jim
I posted a photo that you are welcome to use for desktop wallpaper. I took it
during my most recent visit to 30 Rock. It's about the only thing there these
days that seems to say radio. Enjoy!
Growing up in the 70's, I was a big fan of WNBC.
This is such a great idea for those who remember radio
the way it should be!

I would love to know if
anyone has airchecks of the old Imus shows, or even
more, the brief run of Brink & Belzer.

Long
live Geraldo Santanabananna!
When WNBC-AM moved back down to the 2nd. floor
was it connected to the 5th. floor channel switching?
If so, how did you do the audio? It's my
understanding that the 5th. floor used terminated BA-44s as we
did in Washington. A BC-7 would need an extra amp to
be compatible.

A related question....
This
one is really about FM.
How did you interface the
Schaffer automation with the channel switching. Like the
BC-7, it was only a +8@600 ohm device. In Washington,
the automation was inserted after the channel
switching so it didn't need the power that the studios had.
The downside, of course, was that it wasn't available
to the channel monitoring.

thanks,
Mike

I remember the happiest I had when I found The
Time Machine on 66 WNBC many moons ago and how
it
almost broke my spirit when the station was utilmately
destroyed.

I became so bitter about its demise that
I stayed away from Radio for two and a half
decades.

But the last few years has seen me come to terms with
what happened. I can forgive what happened but I will
never forget the station that once gave a reason to
smile and feel good about myself.

I wish I could
feel that way all the time.

Acevedo64

Its good to know that I am not the only one who
misses the Great 66 WNBC. I hope more people will join
the club. I listened to 66 from 81 till the end and I
have a lot of memories about the station. No station
will be ever come close to being as good as WNBC.
Cool site..actually I found the club first
looking for updated info on Imus' accident.

Did
you hear about that? Thrown from a horse: 5 broken
ribs, collapsed lung (again!), busted collar bone, and
seperated shoulder. Ouch.

Anyway, back in '86 I
started driving, and my first car had only an AM radio. I
listened to Imus as a kid for a bit, so I put on NBC and
got hooked. Even listened after getting an AM/FM
Cassette deck for the car. Soupy, Joey Reynolds..fun
stuff.

I remember as a kid listening to Allen Beebe..I can
still hear his voice. Whatever happened to
him?

Ah well, those are the top-o-my head memories..I'm
sure more will be stirred!
Hi All,

I decided that the 66 WNBC Tribute
Pages had a great opportunity for chatting that just
needed a little push. Come on in and participate, bring
along your memories and your comments!

- Jim
