Hello all,
We have many new members here and I just wanted to do a basic check list of
software setting for WRAP, Olivia and MT63
MT63
Go to configure, modems and click the MT63 tab. Make sure the check boxes are
selected for long (64 bit interleave) and extended characters. Click save, then
close.
Olivia
Go to configure, modem and click the Olivia tab. A good starting point for the
tune margin value would be 8 and for the integration period figure set to 4.
Also make sure the extended character box is checked. Click save, then close.
WRAP
Go to file, then show config. This will bring up the fldigi file structure. Open
the WRAP folder and see if the wrap.exe program is there. If not, go to
http://www.w1hkj.com/Downloads.html and download the wrap.exe for your computer
operating system. Unzip the file and save the exe to the wrap folder.
Go to configure, misc and click on the text capture tab. Make sure you have the
check box selected for "enable detection and extraction".
Now you're ready to go with WRAP. When FLDIGI detects the wrap tags, you will
see the word extracting appear in the window at the bottom of FLDIGI. When the
end of wrap file tag is detected by FLDIGI, the text in the window will change
to file saved in temp folder. The wrap file will actually be stored in the WRAP
folder. To confirm 100%, go to file, show config, then open the wrap folder. The
extracted wrap file will have a file name which is the year, date and time
received. Drag this file over the wrap.exe file in the WRAP folder, click run
and you should either get an indication of success or fail. If you get the
success indication, you will notice that the original file name and format will
be added to the contents of the WRAP folder.
It all sounds harder than it actually is... ask any of our ops that are up and
running. Don't be afraid to give it a shot by monitoring our nets. Skeds are at
www.wpaNBEMS.org. And PLEASE shot us any questions you may have right here to
the list or to my email address, kb3fxi -at- Yahoo dot com.
