And I was Constable in Charge after Wulfstan left Saturday night. I'm
afraid no phone was found, or if it was, it wasn't turned into the
constabulary.

My apologies, m'lady.

I'm assuming you're talking about the new one Milpitas sent out a couple
of months ago with lines for multiple minors, right Bethia?

If so, I just added it to the files section:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wkconstabulary/files/
filename: multiminor.pdf

Other waiver forms

Also, I changed some of the descriptions in the files section. The new
roster-type waiver that was introduced at... Beltaine was it? is listed
there as current. The ones we've been using the past couple of years are
still there but listed as outdated.

Hope this helps,

OK, there will be a post soon to SCA-West, but this event will be
very difficult for the Constabulary. We will need as many constables
as we can get - with baldrics on. I will give you an outline of the
situation, please don't go discussing this on SCA-west as some is
just for constabulary knowledge - I am not sure what the King wants
known to the general populace.

A large portion of the fairgrounds is being used by CDF. They will
be there through at least Monday. The front parking area is being
used to land the helicopters. They are using the first grass area
and about 1/4 of the meadow we use for the Eric as well as the area
we usually use for RV's. They are also using about 1/4 to 1/3rd of
merchants row.

The front gate will not be passable for us. We will be entering
through the rear gate. To get to this gate you continue on East to
the next stop light, turn left on Gibson Road. At the first light,
you turn left into the parking lot. The parking lot is considerably
smaller, but should still work. I have the signs and we will be
using them.

The quiet hour is 10 pm and will be strictly enforced. (If CDF needs
us to shut down earlier, we have to.) Understand, CDF has priority
here...we cooperate or they can ask us to pack our stuff and go home.

Additionally, they have prisoners on site - so by extension, the
entire site is considered a temporary prison. Absolutely NO FIREARMS
will be allowed on site - no we are not going to search people, but
if any of our people is seen with a firearm, or a reasonable
fascimilie, they will be immediately arrested by the CDC (California
Department of Corrections) personnel who are on site. Also, giving
alcohol, drugs, or pretty much anything to any of the prisoners is a
felony. The prisoners are wearing bright orange clothing. In the
unlikely event that any of the prisoners gets loose and ends up with
us, we are asked to surround the person and contain them until we can
contact the officers who will take custody.

We have explained to them that we have lots of knives, swords, etc.
They don't think there is a problem with that. Their area will be
blocked off and we are to stay out of it. If for any reason a
constable needs to go into their area, you must disarm - not even a
pocket knife in their area. Also, we have told them about our
firepits - and our laws. The West Kingdom fire laws will need to be
strongly enforced as well.

The camping will be very tight, but we have camped on smaller areas
so I think the SCA will manage. The lights will be ON - we have no
choice. RV's will be parked by the back gate - we'll show you on
Friday. The CDF has a kitchen and generators that will run 24-7 -
again we have no choice in this.

Overall, this will be a difficult event. There will be disgruntled
people and many things that we cannot change. We need to work to
back up the Autocrat as much as possible and see that this event is
as smooth as the situation will allow.

The smoke from the fire is visible from the area and people with
asthma or other breathing problems may have difficulty. Just be
aware of this.

The options are to cancell, reschedule, or turn this into a day
event. These options are unacceptable to the Seneschal and Autocrat,
so please if everyone can help, we can make this work.

West Kingdom Constable

Alberic,

You will need to give at least the heralds a heads up on this. Their
voices are strained enough going against the rice dryer. With the
additional noise objects, and the fact that I know several heralds have
breathing issues (including me), will mean that they will need to
utilize their resources very carefully as well. I'll see if I can help
Friday night and/or Saturday. But I'm committed to some other things
(like heralding)

Also as a suggestion, having Constables assigned to gate, fire watch,
etc. in pairs or trios. 2 to handle situations, one to run and get
help. It might also be a good idea if we let you know where each of us
was encamped, so if necessary we can be found and come assist.

Greetings! I have a mandatory training workshop in
Napa all day Saturday, but I will do my best to stay
as late Friday night and get back as early Saturday
evening as possible. I do not have a baldric. Also,
do you have a public statement to the populous
prepared about this? If so, I would like to pass it
along to the fringies and others that may not be on
sca-west.

YIS,

Willeam "Aros" Grenetrewis
Deputy Constable of Vinhold

When it comes out on SCA-west, you can print that or forward to the
fringies. We are not sure what the King will choose to tell
people...but the constables needed to know about the prisoners, etc.
In the mean time just tell them that the camping is tight and if we
have to shut down drumming....we don't really don't want to, but we
have no choice. If you can help them understand that it is really
the CDF that is making a lot of the rules and we are just trying to
cooperate, that would be cool.

Thanks!

Kate (posting for Al who is not near a computer right now.)

OK... Any idea when that will happen? And why are we being so secretive
about things? Is there some reason to keep things hidden away from the
general populace? Why *not* just forward the message Al sent us to the
West list?

I'm not advocating anything, I'm just honestly confused about this so I'm
asking the questions.

The King would like to make the announcement. Do you want to pre-
empt him? <grin>

And in all honesty, I couldn't care less about the prisoners....but
some people may get a little edgy - why create a problem?

Make sure each group of constables carry a walkie-talkie with good
batteries in it. I don't know about y'all, but I couldn't run anywhere
right now without having some serious pain.

I have a couple walkie talkies. I'll bring them along with my spare
tabards/baldrics.
