I'm not an antique expert. But I would say you got your money's
worth. The rush material on the side chair's (braced hoop back)seat
would cost more than what you paid for it, to say nothing of the time
it would take to weave it.
I'd say that these are both factory made chairs, late 19th century at
the earliest. That means that they're not valuable museum pieces. The
box stretchers on the sack back and the uniformity of the spindles are
the most obvious proof of this. The fact that they are pretty old and
still together says something for their quality. But really one would
need to look at details that can't be seen in the photos to make a real
judgement.
