I hope to make it. I will need an address for the location.

*sigh* That's one of the problems at this time of year. Pick any day, and
half the group would be busy.

If anyone has a suggestion that accommodates more people, I'm open to
suggestions.

I'm afraid the switch to Saturday takes me and David right out. Hope you have a
great ritual.

Hullo All,

As of right now, pending changes if anyone presents a persuasive
counterpoint, here is the plan for Solstice ritual this upcoming weekend:

Ritual will take place on Saturday afternoon/evening. We will begin ritual
approximately 30 minutes before sunset. I went online and found sunset
calculated for 4:58 PM on December 19th for Kansas City. Because of the
timing of the ritual compared to the actual Solstice (a couple of days
later), and the fact that we are celebrating a sunset-based rite, the theme
of this ritual will be endings, finishing things, closing off old tasks,
saying goodbye to old burdens - NOT starting new tasks and projects, but
finishing off the old so that we might make way for the new. We will be
acknowledging the descent into the deepest darkness of the year, and staving
off the darker spirits and the imposing presence of death with bell-ringing,
and symbols of lasting life such as branches of evergreen trees and our
actual Yule tree itself. These symbols will also be used in celebration of
our tasks which we completed in the previous year.

The actual Solstice is Monday morning at 11:47 AM. Either Monday morning at
sunrise, or Monday at noon would be an ideal time to celebrate the beginning
of the new, if you wish to carry this ritual through in your own time.

If you will have an actual role in this ritual, please come by 4:00 PM. I
need volunteers to be Seer and Bard. Jamie has offered to be Sacrificer.

Please bring:
- WARM CLOTHES. Depending on the weather, we might go outside briefly.
(VERY briefly.)
- An ornament, either hand-made or highly meaningful to you, which will be
hung on our Yule tree. If it's something that represents the PREVIOUS SOLAR
YEAR to you, even better.
- A bell, chime, or other source of joyful noise.
- Praise offerings, as desired.
- A STORY of a task that you have COMPLETED this year. Please write down
this story, or tell the story aloud during the ritual.

Tentatively, our patron deity will be Mother Holda.

Ritual will take place at my house. Please e-mail me off-list for my
address and directions.

Cheers,
Leo

I've tried to find this info in the old messages but the events stuff
doesn't seem to exist past Samhain. I'd like to come! :)

Greetings!

I have been interested in Druidry for awhile. In fact, I have been trying to
find a Kansas City Druid group for some time. I recently located ADF's website
which is how I located your group.

I have a varied spiritual background and have explored many paths, but as I am
getting to know myself better through inner reflection and meditation, I know
that I am a pagan at heart. It appears that Druidism encompasses many of my
personal beliefs as well as my Celtic heritage. I have done research on the web
and am currently reading "The Book of Druidry" by Ross Nichols that a friend
gave me.

I am interested in hearing more about the Wild Hare Grove and if there are any
upcoming activities.
