White Oak Writers of Houston, Texas was founded in 2007.

WOW offers serious writers a chance to gather in the Heights and Oak Forest area of Houston for genre specific critique. We are writers that are writing well beyond the first draft and we are familiar with the effort and journey of having our writing acknowledged and published.

Also on our site members will find announcements of events for workshops,conferences,contests, calls for manuscripts, readings, book release parties and literary festivals.
Members have access to resources including lists of vetted contests, area and on line classes, publishing issue discussion, calls for submissions, workshops, conferences and other critique groups.

Other genre groups are being formed upon the request of members.

The in person critique groups are for committed writers who are actively working on a WIP (work in process) and who want to receive and to give a constructive review.
We follow a specific set of guidelines and meet at a local area restaurant. Once you have joined WOW then look at the WOW Critique Groups file for details on joining, meetings and guidelines. (Click on Files in the left side menu)
