Subject: lost? golden retreiver

A week ago monday, my friends came home to their Wilkenson Rd. home outside of
langley (very near the vineyard) to find their 15 year old dog dead on her
teather and their 4 or 5 year old golden retreiver gone. She has never been
gone more than an hour before. They have several acres there and the dog used
to run the property, but always returned. The golden's name is Frankie and may
very well have a ball in her mouth. She is of medium build and not wearing her
collar, tho she has a chip between the shoulder blades or on the back of her
neck.
If anyone has seen the dog or knows anything about what might have happened
there, please contact Mark Gaggia at gee@... and I will pass the info on
to my friends.
I suggested that he contact the sheriff, as it seemed strange to me that such a
thing could happen in one day. He feels that they might have been accidently
poisened the day before, but I just don't see how the older dog could have been
playing on Sunday and dead on monday. It is a sad story, whatever.
                            Thanks in advance,
                            Mark G.

Please send email to this group only to report a
dog that you have lost or found.

If you have lost your dog, don't forget to contact and VISIT
the WAIF Animal Shelter in Coupeville and the Oak Harbor
Animal Shelter on the Seaplane Base. It is very important to visit the shelters
yourself to check for your dog -- shelter staff may not recognize your dog from
a description over the telephone. Check out the WAIF web site to see if you
recognize a dog currently at the
shelter ( http://www.waifanimals.org/dogs/dogs.asp ). If you have found a dog,
notify the shelters also, as well as other places dog owners may contact (like
the veterinary clinics.) A dog license tag
or other ID on the dog will help return the animal home safely. Consider a
microchip -- a stolen dog will have its tags removed before being dumped, so a
microchip might help return your dog home.

If you use the REPLY function in your email program to respond to a message from
this list, all members of the list will see your reply. If you want to reply to

Hi--The two yellow labs-Sophie & Maris, have been found. Our neighbor contacted
Fetch - lost

Thanks to the help of
a number of very caring people. They are home and they are safe. Thank you.

Found Friday nite, June 4, about 9:30 pm on West Beach Road, just south of Fort
Nugent (Oak Harbor), 2 young dogs headed south down the middle of the road.

They're obviously loved, but not loved enough to have had collars on with id. I
fed and watered them and kept them overnight in my garage, took them to the WAIF
shelter (678-5816) on Hwy 20 south of Coupeville this morning. Neither matched
previously filed "lost" notices.

      1) 5-6 month old male Malamute (possible mix). Possibly housebroken.
Cream, silver and black. 50-60 lbs. Very sweet & loving. Was unable to
determine if neutered or not. Seemed to have only one small testicle. Shelter
name will be "Smarty" (because he IS and after Smarty Jones). Someone HAS to be
looking for this dog -- he's a keeper.

      2) approx. 1 yr old red merle long-haired Aussie mix, male, neutered.
Bushy tail that curls over his back toward his head. Shedding furiously. Right
eye is blue. Very vocal and quite insecure, dependent upon his buddy, "Smarty."
But sweet and trusting (altho less trusting than S). He has a microchip
registered with N.O.A.H. NOAH was going to get back to WAIF regarding that
information. Shelter name will be "Whimper." Whimper is also very likely
housebroken.

WAIF is closed M & T, so if you know anything about these dogs - who are very
dependent upon each other - please phone and go check them out this weekend.
They are really neat dogs.

Apparently lost dog in Clinton near gas station next to Dairy Queen about
11:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

Tried to get her into car and could not (maybe because I had another dog in
the car).

Female (I think), shepherd mix? German Shepherd type markings but short
ears. Body much shorter and chunkier than shepherd.

Maybe 65 pounds--somewhat overweight.

Very spooked but seeking attention from people.

Service station clerk said the dog had been hanging around for about an hour
and tried to come in the store--a customer cliamed dog had been seen around
there before.

Had tags from S. Whidbey vet clinic and Midway clinic in Oak Harbor but no
ID tag.

This sounds like ex-shelter dog "Polly Esther." She "lives" at the wood
carving place in that area and has been reported as being a stray before.
Not sure of her new name or why no name tags.

A Welsh Corgi with tan and white coloring went missing from her
owner's house on Doe Drive on 7/3. A neighbor saw the dog walking
down the street alone at 3:30 PM and "thought nothing of it" and the
dog has not been seen since. The dogs name is Gracie and she responds
only to the name Gracie. Gracie is new to her environment because she
moved up here with her family only two weeks ago from California. She
is very sweet and well tempered and is missed very much, we hope that
someone has seen our precious lost animal.

Spotted today 7/4 aprox. 2pm A black labbish female with a halter. She was
running north along Goss Lake Road. She looked lost and tired, but wouldn't
quite let me catch her. She disappeared after turning toward Lakeside Drive.

On my way into Oak Harbor just before 6 pm I saw a gold-colored yellow Lab with
a brown collar headed west on Fort Nugent Road, trotting purposefully, but
safely, far off on the shoulder. He had "that look" of a runaway about him
(her?), but I just couldn't stop and try to get him. Sorry.

I picked up and have in safe keeping a yellow lab female with an
unmarked/tagged red collar from the road leading in to Double Bluff around
midnight last night. I had seen her up and down the beach all evening with
no person in tow. When I got ready to leave she was in the road. She was
very wet and really wanted to get in my car, so I have her. 221-6121.

What is one more dog? I daresay that there are hundreds of dogs lost this
am, after the fireworks that went on till one am and more. Poor things. My
dogs wouldn't go out to the bathroom after 2pm yesterday. Hope the owner
knows about this site.

It IS you, MJ, isn't it. What is this new email address and did you get rid
of the old one? Let me know and give me the password next time you
communicate, so I know it is you and not just another woman trying to reach
out to a beautiful, wealthy, modest and beautiful, young, older man.

Should have read: found! red collar attached to a yellow lab.

So - what WOULD the password be?
yep, it is me...
I have been thinking I should get signed on to this group as I am ALWAYS
ending up with misplaced dogs :-)
(still have the old e-mail address)
And you are right - what is one more :-) I DID find the owners of those
last two -after 3 1/2 weeks. Those two would have been listed with SPDR and
adopted fast if they had been with me for another week. Lucky owner! I will
tell you the whole story next time I see you!
Hope this one finds her owner soon - she is a sweetie.
MJ

Thanks to this list! This dog was claimed by owner this afternoon. She
had come clear from Maxwelton Beach earlier in the day; probably followed

1O YEAR OLD BLACK AND WHITE COLLIE WHO WAS SPOOKED ON JULY 3RD
WITH FIREWORKS , AND GOT OUT OF HER PEN . SHE HAS NEVER DONE
THIS BEFORE.
I AM AFRAID SHE MAY HAVE BEEN FURTHER SCARED BY THE PARADE ON
SUNDAY 4TH AS WE LIVE ON S.MAXWELTON ROAD.

I WILL INCLUDE A PHOTO, BUT SHE DOES NOT LOOK AS ELEGANT AT
PRESENT AS SHE HAS A RATHER CHOPPY SHORT SUMMER HAIR- CUT!
SHE ONLY HAS THAT WHITE MANE, WITH REST OF HAIR PRETTY SHORT.

PLEASE - IF YOU HAVE SEEN HER OR HEARD ANYTHING AT ALL,
LET ME KNOW.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Tuesday, 5:00-5:30 pm. Found dark brown (not very red) female Chow wandering on
West Beach Road at Sunset Beach across from Swantown Lake. Very likely a July
Fourth escapee. Jumped as fireworks went off 1/4 mile away.

Very matted. Needs good brushing. Not unfriendly, but skittish, not trusting.
She came close, but wouldn't let me touch her. Has on red nylon collor with
some printing on it that I couldn't get close enough to read. Refused food and
water, but she is hanging around in a very dangerous and road-unfriendly place.
