I'm looking for a good pair of 12" rear rims for a D series. D160, 180 or 200.
I don't need tires, but will buy them if I have to, to get the rims.
Thanks,
Jim

of play in them from 35 years of plowing, so much so that the blade was tilting
back torward the tractor by a few inches at the top of the plow. In some cases
the holes in the plow assembly were elongated. So I carefully drilled out all
the holes to 5/8", and installed 3 new 5/8" rods, that a machinist made for me.
I did all the holes on the plow with a hand drill, and the springs on my drill
press. There is no play now. I oiled all the pins and hole and they turn, but
are snug. I only use this for snow removal, so I only drilled the 2nd hole from
the top, on the pow blade.I hope this will improve the plow efficiancy, as it
will be more square, to the surface being plowed, and allow the use of the full
height of the plow.

Joe

Thanks you sharing that info. with other club members. Your idea of drilling out
the 1/2" holes to 5/8" was a good idea.

That sounds about right, working on getting my Charger 10 ready too.
Got plow, chains and weights on. Also replacing both cables that have been
sticking enough to be pain in the rear. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving

Yes there are oversize pistons & rings available. You didn't give a model
number, I will assume it is a K301AS. I will caution you, Buy a new rod and
install it with the piston. Rods account for most engine failures. Never replace
just the piston. To do the job right, the block needs to be bored and honed for
the new piston and rings. Also the crank needs to be checked and ground
undersized if needed. Find a comptent local shop to measure and machine the
block and crank and get the final dimensions before buying parts. If you don't
know of or can't find a local shop contact Brian Miller http://gardentracto
rpullingtips. com/a1carb. htm
He can do the whole thing pretty reasonably.

The NAPA # for a 5-wire female connector w/wires is 7-01910.
Be sure to replace the ignition switch also. You might try
a different NAPA Guy--he doesn't seem to be the sharpest blade

Most Montgomery Ward tractors were made by MTD. If it
has a Briggs and Stratton engine you can tell from the
numbers on the engine what year it is. There is the model
number and then the type and then the code. The first two
numbers of the code is the year built. If the code is 9311684
the year is 1993.

Hi, a whiile back, I'm sure someone answered this question, but I can't find the
post. Does anyone know of the NAPA # for the connector and pigtail to replace
the plug on the ignition switch on a C121? My NAPA guy let out a groan when I
asked him about one, and pleaded with me to come up with the number so he
wouldn't have to comb through his catalogs. The only way I can kepp her running
is be wiggling/pushing on the connector, or by hot wiring it, neither of which I
want to do all winter long blowing snow. Help, please? Thanks. Nathan

My 1977 C-160 has the solid lift link for the dozer blade and I can pick the
front of the tractor off the ground a couple inches. It does help to have the
down pressure, especially when the snow becomes hard-packed. You can get a
similar affect by tilting the blade backward so that the scraped bar is at a
more aggressive angle to the snow. Either way will, of course, tear up soft
soil / gravel underneath. But....who cares...the snow is moved and that's what
I wanted done ! ! !

My Charger 9 has a nice dozer blade that I got with it. The previous owner
plowed snow with it with a chain installed where the solid link would be to
raise and lower it. He said it let the blade float up over uneven spots in the
driveway, etc. I've never had the blade on yet and plan on installing it this
year. I was just wondering what your thoughts or experiences were with this. I
should say also that this has hydraulics so the cyl would hold the plow pretty
solid with the solid link in there. Have you ever needed power down when snow
plowing? Thanks

I would just like to mention that a Kohler K241S in a Wheel Horse should have
battery ignition. I can't think of any Wheel Horses with that engine that had
magnito ignition unless it has a replacement engine. With battery ignition
neither the flywheel key or the flywheel magnets would have an effect on the
ignition timing or spark.

I would start with a new fuel filter, (I would even add a little Seafoam gas
additive to the fuel tank) new points, set to the proper gap and another new
spark plug. I have had new plugs be bad, especially Champion. I've always had
better luck with Autolite, but that's just my preference.

If it turns out that it has magnito ignition I would also check the flywheel
key.

Not necessarily, Bob. I have seen flywheel keys shear just a little bit, not
enough to kill engine, but retard timing to the point that the engine runs

Here's the Kohler manual that should help with your troubleshooting and
carburetor adjustment:
http://www.kohlerengines.com/onlinecatalog/pdf/tp_2379.pdf

If you have the type ignition system that uses the automotive type coil, it
wouldn't hurt to check the ignition points, clean and re-gap them, and replace
the condenser. Do you have an inline gas filter? If so replace it. You can
check the output of the fuel pump by disconnecting the fuel line going into the
carburetor and putting the end into a clean container. Crank the engine over
and you should have a steady stream of fuel. BE VERY, VERY CAREFUL WHILE DOING
THIS. You don't want to burn you or your tractor up.

I am not a engine mechanic but good compression should rule out timming in the
valves or bad rings or other issues such as that. Ignition timming may be an
issue. As you can get good spark but if it's not at the correct moment (sheared
key maybe). How about fuel mixture screws. I am not sure about the K241S but the
K582S says to start from gently seated screws (idle out 1.25 turns) and (fuel
out 3 turns)
You can test the fuel question by a temporary gravity fed line to the carb it
seems.
Good luck.

similar reading against a 17hp Kohler and the carb was taken apart and cleaned
after soaking in car cleaner. This unit always ran strong and it has been well
taken care of since new. The problem was first noted when it was taken out for a
late season grass trimming and since then the above was done. It was suggested
that the fuel pump may be erratically delivering fuel and/or spark issue with
flywheel/keyway however the flywheel issue seems a stretch. Can the fuel pump be
easily checked and/or any other troubleshooting ideas. Thanks!
