it suddenly dawned on me last night that i totally forgot about the
meeting on thursday! I knew I would have trouble remembering it late
in the week.

I joined the westloop community organization last year and remembered
to go to about half the meetings. http://www.westloop.org
I rejoined in december and have forgotten to go the last two months. I
think the meetings are the third thursday of the month too. if you
don't know about these gatherings, It is $30 a year and it is free
wine and usually appetizers at a local club, gallery or restaurant to
meet other people in the neighborhood.

I don't know about the rest of you but i think it would help me if we
set up an automatic reminder for the meetings one day in advance, lol.

3 - We've been getting a lot of spam lately.  I'll try and modify the
enrollment process to avoid the spammers (which oddly enough - are
spamming about embroidery).  If anyone wants to help moderate the
Yahoo group please let me know.

basically..a friend with a local stitch craft group based in a church in oak park presented the idea of having a knitting open house where anyone could drop in and knit, crochet (or learn-free workshops would be offered) chat, nosh, relax, rock.... here at pleasant home. it would be held within the hours of 9 am-7 pm with a reception and gospel concert later on. (i have heard this choir-they are great!) the finished handmade items would then be blessed and donated to various charities.

may 31st was open and i had nothing better to do (yeah, right, you know i feel this is worth it!) so i said, "sure". registration is pretty easy, but if you would rather not deal with it you can just call or email me and let me know if you want to come. we will get breakfast and lunches and muchies donated and maybe even some rocking chairs for the front porch. of course the kettle will be on all day with that gorgeous todd and holland tea...iced tea if the weather is warm... and coffee for those who gotta have coffee.... please consider coming over for this, or donating hand knit items to the cause. and please, tell your friends! remember we are situated on a great big park surrounded by a fence. if the day is fine i will put out stuff for the kids to do...frizbees, hula hoops, hacky sack,sidewalk chalk, giant bubbles and the like.
