Description

WELLINGTON RIFLES Service Rifle and Living History Unit Incorporated exists to promote the understanding, preservation and practice of New Zealands Military skills and history.
Being a story of a small nation willing to make military contributions in situations that might have been assessed as being beyond us, the skill, determination and ingenuity of the Kiwi fighting man forms a key role in the development of New Zealand as a People and a Nation. Preserving that story in a tangible and accessible way is the core activity of the unit whether during live fire of blank fire activity. The paper target shooting focus and activities of NZ Service rifle is supported by the unit but is not appropriate as a unit activity being too far divorced from historical conditions. Unit Live Fire should wherever possible re-create as authentic a challenge as possible without compromising safety.

Primary focus is involvement in:
World War 1 Wellington Infantry Regiment,
World War 2 - 22 (Motor) Battalion 2 N.Z.E.F, and
Vietnam (Whiskey 3 6RAR/NZ ANZAC 1969.)

Re: Machine Gun Tripod
Looks like he dug it out of his back yard! Will still go for hundreds though as it is a Bren tripod, which seem worth their weight in gold these days. From:
