Well, it's April, and here at WelcomeHolmes we are planning a little diversion from our ongoing discussion of the canon. We will be discussing the stories but by way of Sherlock Holmes films. The recent screen appearances of Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law here in the USA and Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freemanin England have added significantly to the interpretation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's character, our hero, Sherlock Holmes (and Dr. Watson, his trusted friend and biographer.)
I've asked Howard Ostrom (a.k.a. Straker) to direct our attention to the films, past and present, which attempt to bring the canon to the screen. Howard is an avid collector of thousands of DVDs focused on the Holmes saga, and will be sending links to YouTube and engaging our minds with films you may not have seen or heard about.
