Dear Friends/Fellow professionals,

Draw from the success of Women's club, we are proposing to form a sport club
under
the umbrella of CPACTT.

We are considering renting a double gym, half of which to provide a place for
gentleman and their sporty and responsible kids as follows:

Location: Lauralwood public school or Sir John A MacDonald (new
highschool near laurelwood too).

Activities: Basketball, badminton

Time: Friday 7:30-9:00pm from Sept 15 to May 15 except for school holidays.

Cost: Regular adult: $35/year/person, students 15/year/person but should be
accompanied by an adult. Otherwise: $2/visit/adult, $1/visit/child.

Due to limit space, we can admit at most 20 adults and 20 students (those who go
to
school) regular members. The CPACTT will subside the cost if we do not have
enough
people interested. If we collect more money than the cost, we can extend the
duration, book larger space, or purchase equipment.

If you are interested and prepared to pay, please email to jhchen@...
with
subject line sports club, and your names, phone number. Act promptly!

I hope to hear from you soon.

Have a nice day,

Jiahua Chen
Vice president of CPACTT/Professor of Statistics

Let's Get Cooking!

Dear CPACTT members and Friends, We proudly announce
the formation of CPACTT Cooking Club. In celebration
of such a moment, we are planning the kick-off event
for the Club soon.

Please sign up for the cooking club by email to
yanniliu@....

In the meantime, we also ask you to contribute your
ideas on the activities, and efforts on food
preparation for this event. We will need up to 3
persons to prepare the food, because cooking for 20 is
beyond the capacity of a home kitchen. The food is not
free. The grocery bills will be shared.
We estimate the total cost should be around $5 per
person. The actual cost will be calculated based on
the recepts and number of people attending.

The CPACTT Cooking Club is a group of people who love
cooking and are proud of our culinary traditions.
Please join us if you define yourself
as,
- love cooking and be pround of good cooking
- possess some skills to make food from scratch, such
as making steamed bread (aka Man Tou) from flour,
water and yeast but you do not have to be a Master
Chef, and
- open-minded, love to accept new ideas and new food.
We believe that together we can bring good food here
to our families, friends, and even the community. We
can share our pride with others.
We can let Canadians know that Chinese food *is* an
art, unlike their perception of nothing more than
spring rolls and chicken balls.

As a Club, we are going to have a lot of culinary
activities. Based on the fact that there is no
"kitchen stadium" available, we are going to
work in groups that are small enough to be housed in
an average house kitchen. We are going to have topics
to explore, from simple family cooking to decadent
French dessert. We are going to have an E-mail
magazine available to the entire CPACTT to show that
we are making a difference not only for ourselves, but
also for everyone.

There is also a realistic aspect of our Club, the
cost. We are proposing that our club members share the
grocery cost for our club activities.
In case of an event that involves non-members, we will
ask anyone that participates to share our cost.

Better food is ahead. Let's get cooking!

Please sign up for the cooking club by email to
yanniliu@...

Dear CPACTT Members and Friends:

CPACTT like to invites you for a dinner/meeting with a delegation
from Jilin University. A delegation from Jilin University will visit
Waterloo from Jan. 24 to 29. The members of the delegation are
President, Dean of Science, and Director of International Office. U
of Waterllo has been collaborating with Jilin U on a number of
projects. This is the highest level of visits ever.

Since CPACTT is a major organization of mainland Chinese communities
in the area, we are planning to invite the delegation for an informal
dinner/meeting on the evening of Jan 27th at 6:00 pm at Tien Hoa Inn,
50 Weber St N(~$15/ea). The delegation has expressed that they are
willing to build connections with overseas Chinese organizations.

If you are long untouched with mainland China, this is a great time
to do so; If you are still closely connected, this is a great
opportunity to make some new friends; if you are looking for chances
for business and career advances, this is a great chance to let
people know your great ambitions.

Please email us at xdhuang@... if you can attend, so we can
book a seat for you, and also please leave us with your current email
address, so we can inform you in case that the meeting time and place
change.

Thank you.

Your truely,

CPACTT Committee

Dear Member,

At this time of year, keeping in touch becomes a national obsession.
When we're not writing Christmas cards, we're shopping for gifts,
eating out with friends or being surprised by unexpected visitors.
Increasingly, people are relying on networking with each other in
their life and work. "Networking" is exactly the main theme of many
CPACTT activities. We believe "together we can make a difference". It
is unbelievable that our association experienced rapid expansion and
had a very active year. We now have more than 280 members which
represents thousands of Chinese in our local community. As 2003 is
quickly wrapping up, the CPACTT executive committee is wishing our
members have a great holiday season and fantastic new year.

Here are the past activity update and some upcoming events:

- Past event: Cambridge member networking lunch
Held on Dec 17th, 2003 in China House Restaurant. 24 members attended
lunch. The networking lunch is getting more popular because it allows
a small group of members to meet and discuss issues of their
interest. We will for sure have more meetings in the future.

- Next Event: CPACCT Spring Festival Celebration Party
This is a major event to celebrate Chinese new year, loaded with
performance, Karaoke and Dance.
Place: Hauser Haus room in Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex
Time: Jan 17, 2003 7.00 pm to 1.00 am
Adults only. No dress-code rules. Details see below.
To book your tickets, please email: cpactt@...

- Upcoming event: Ski with CPACTT
Group ski trip. Will teach you how to ski at no charge. Please email:
phuang@... if you are interested.

- Upcoming event: Investment Seminar
Provide members with access to investment opportunities such as
private placement and share offering to local companies. Please stay
tuned for future announcement.

- Upcoming event: Tax planning seminar in Mandarin
Provide members with Tax tips and tricks. Please stay tuned for
future announcement.

Once again we wish you all a happy and safe holiday. Keeping in the
spirit of CPACTT. Hope Santa leaves you a great gift under your tree!

Merry Christmas and have a wonderful holiday,

CPACTT Executive Committee
