This is a list for discussion and information related to the democratization of the Pacifica National Board and the governance of WBAI. Although the list moderator is a member of the WBAI Local Station Board, this is NOT an official site, nor is it connected in any official way to WBAI or Pacifica.

We are in an election year at WBAI: Join the list to find out how elections work, how you can help, what happened last time, how reform of the elections process is proceeding, and what the issues and problems around the elections are. Discussion of "all things Pacifican" is welcome: this is the only progressive media network that elects members of its governance structure, both local and national. Because every donor to Pacifica is a member, and every member gets to vote for representatives to local governing boards, such a radical experiment in democracy will work only if every member stays informed about issues that affect radio, mass media, and the five stations that comprise the Pacifica Foundation. Jefferson's observation that "wherever the people are well informed they can be trusted with their own government" holds as true for Pacifica as it does for the nation.
